I looked into the Hare Krishna movement at one time. Prabupada seems to have been a good man. If memory serves me right, someone please correct me, I think he left his wife and family at an eldery age to come to America to bring the hare krishna mantra to the west. The fact that it spread like wildfire says something about it. Like most stories he didn't have the happiest ending. It seems that fat laden foods and disciples who wanted instead to be gurus themselves caught up with him. The Iskon movement is a whole other story.
