It is vital for a yogi to have interaction with saints like Kirpal. You are blessed. I myself got initiated into Sant Mat practices.

It is my experience, Yogananda's view and SRF minister's view that it is not possible to suffer at the hands of the kundalini nor can it be awakened prematurely. Perhaps this is true when you are under the guidance of a true guru. Maybe it is not always true.

I think I read in the Satyananda book "yogananda sangha" that Guruji was practicing meditation on om when he was a young boy. Satya says that he had fellowship with Radhasoami--who knows if he actually learned the technique from them. Regardless, he taught it to Satyananda. It seems he would have to learn it from somebody--as this is the way of righteousness.

Who knows where hongsau came from! I have been told by Indian sources that acahryas in Yukteswar line including those stemming off Satyananda teach this technique. I don't know if it is a prep for kriya, done after kriya, or if you do it separate.

Yogananda said he practiced hongsau 6 hours a day as a boy so he did not learn it from Yukteswar. Maybe Yogananda influenced Yukteswar on this. Yogananda could have learnt it from Kebalananda--who was a vedantin. But it seems Yogananda knew it before that. No mention is made of the technique being included in the Kebalananda diksha given to Mukunda in the book "mejda" by Sananda Ghosh. I have yet to find anyone in India that teaches it as hong-sau. A few do ham-sa. Guruji says in the "Yogoda book" that the technique is 7000 years old. Someone has said that this is a bengali way to say the word. Yogananda says his name like "Paramhungsau" on the SRF audio tapes. If you listen closely this is the way he says it most of the time--but not all.
