I have heard all 5 of the chakra sounds Yogananda speaks of. The real om is said to be a symphony of these 5 and like a roaring ocean. The 5th at the throat is likened to thunder. Seems to me there is little diffrence from the 5th and the om and Achalananda agreed with me when I asked.

The circulation and other sounds of the body seem to me to be like a hiss, a purr and high pitched static. These are faint. I used to think the last was the flute.

When the sounds of the chakras came to me it was preceeded with a strong rush of energy (kundalini)from the 1st 2 chakras. The sound of the chakra I heard was overpowering--coming from within my body and without. It is hard to get used to and disorientating to the sensory mind (manas). When the chakra sounds came there is no doubt in my mind at all. I wondered in years past if I was hearing the chakras but I was not in hindsight. This does not mean you are not advanced or progressing. This is my experience only.
