The supreme Light is said to be radiating out from the sahasrar and that is linked up with the cerebrum says Yogananda. You get to this by passing the medulla and the pineal gland as well (with the help of higher kriyas). I just read it in his gita.

I would guess that it is possible for the blind to see the spiritual eye but perhaps it is harder in the initial stages. Leo Cocks told me Reverend Bernard used to drive with eyes shut via sight from his 3rd eye only. Who knows how far! He said he was afraid of Bernard because of his power--usually said to come to the sadhaka when the 3rd eye is operational. Siva is said to have burnt cupid with the power of his 3rd eye and Yogananda said the temptation of Christ was he could have obliterated his persecutors on the cross with the power of his 3rd eye, but he did not.

It is safe to say that few people have seen the spiritual eye in its fullness and Yogananda says in its fullness it appears the same to all. Some may disagree with this but that is the teaching. While it is forming it appears in different ways--Sivananda agrees on this. I will try and find the quote from Siva.

As for dreams, what about the idea that they are based on samskaras which are past life based. Yogananda says the young and very old have sexual instincts from past lives even if the organs are not operational or past their prime. This is due to samskaras.
Perhaps these people do not recall the deeper dreams. I do not recall may of mine. Many days I seem to have no dreams. Krishnamurti said the same and Yogananda said most dreams are to work out the last day's conflicts and merely indicate the general level of the dreamer. Without the imagination faculty (vikalpa?) based on images new dreams may not be produced.
