Subject: The Goal of Yoga

According to the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali, the goal and purpose of yoga is to reach a state of consciousness where thought ceases. Or cessation of the fluctuations of the mind-stuff (chitta).

Is there anyone here that has achieved this goal?

What would you say the distinct stages are to getting to this goal/place? Where does bliss come in to this?

On another note, it is usually said that concentration is the key to meditation. However, doesn't this contradict the equal idea that the thoughts will eventually settle down? I.e the former is a state of effort, while the latter is effortless?
