Subject: Airplane route

Kriya - the airplane route to God. Seems a bit like "you will go to hell unless you believe in Jesus" or is it just me? The life-force works by itself (i've heard this and read this many times). All you have to do is meditate and the rest takes care of itself. Hence pranayama (life-force control) is absurd. Why does every other yoga book and teacher say that pranayama is breath control?

Surely meditation is the same for each person (apart from the samskaras and karmas)? Buddhists can be enlighened, christians can be, taoist, - pretty much anyone. And you don't need kriya either.

"Kriya yoga is a psychophysiological technique whereby human blood is decarbonised and recharged with oxygen" - AY.

Blood is not decarbonised. Carbon dioxide is less. Decarbonised simply means getting rid of the "dirt". What this quotation reveals is that when a person fasts, and breathes in more oxygen via the kriya breath, the senses turn inwards because the heart is free from pumping venous blood to the lungs. It is as simple as that. Why then, do teachers say that the cool and warm currents that are supposed to be felt in the spine are astral by nature, and that someone who does kriya without the breath can get the same results? That is nonsensical. The breathing component of kriya is the key to sense-withdrawal. Without the extra oxygen inhaled, the heart does not cease, the lungs do not stop, and the senses do not withdraw.

Kriya is also related to the zodiac - but why? There are countless stars and planets in the entire universe. How does, for example, Pluto relate to a certain chakra? What is the explanation/science behind this? And can it be stated in just one sentence?

Cool and warm currents are astral. They can be felt in the PHYSICAL body. Nonsense again. What does making the life force go up and down (astral cool and warm currents) have to do with kundalini going through the chakras? Absolutely nothing. They are not connected by any line of rational thinking. Yet read the literature about kriya and you will see that a huge conglomeration of mixed up "facts" are presented for you.

Let me make it perfectly clear here that i am not knocking kriya yoga. I am knocking kriya. People can, do, and will get results from practising kriya yoga. The problems come in when the life force is related to the astral body, kundalini, chakras, enlightenment, third eye, psychic powers, zodiac, miracles, and so on. There may well be a physical basis for kriya.

And it is not neccesary to try to insult this post, call it ignorant, or defame it in any way. This shows that ego is present, ignorance is rampant, and enlightenment is very far off (despite the airplane route).

SRF is a cult. Mind you, this shouldn't anger anyone, since a cult is not a derogatory term. In this context though, it is neccesary to say that SRF falls under the banner of cult and resembles other cults, whether good or bad. And SRF is not without controversy either. Bear that in mind.

Kriya does not suspend the anabolic and catabolic process. It just slows it down.

Kriya does not make a person live for 300 years, 500 years, a thousand years, or 10,000 years.

When Yogananda's body was supposed to be incorruptible, there was testimony to the effect that a small brown dot appeared on his nose after a while due to decay. SRF has said otherwise and presents a false picture.

Yoga means union. The goal of Yoga as stated by Patanjali is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind-stuff. How clear can this be? It is said that as thoughts settle down, bliss emerges. Thoughtless awareness is thus union with bliss. IS that clear to you?

The idea of an astral and causal body and plane is nonsensical. In one of the collected talks books (SRF), Yogananda says that he sees a dead person sitting in the isles at one of his speeches, and that it seems as real to him as physical reality. However, this astral "body" cannot be sitting on a physical chair. Think about it.

What does a causal body look like?

Finally, if kriya is the airplane route to God, how can direct disciples of the avatar Yogananda spend 70 years doing kriya and don't even get a small samadhi until their death? Why are there designated mathematical time frames for liberation by kriya practice?

I smell a rat.
