From another book, "God Has Given Us Every Good Thing," (Roy Eugene Davis, CSA Press, publishers, copyright 1986).

Page 141

"...that night, during a vivid dream, I met Swami Muktananda. I had read in his book some references to the 'blue pearl'which is perceived by meditators when prana flows to the spiritual eye and crown chakra. I felt that he must have been writing about the spiritual eye as I knew it, because of the various descriptions he provided from his own experiences. In my dream, Muktananda spoke fluent English. I asked him, 'What do you mean by the term, 'blue pearl?' He smiled and said, 'You know, the spiritual eye.'"

later during a meeting with Swami Muktananda Roy continues on this subject,

"...I was introduced to him and, through an interpreter, we discussed a few matters of mutual interest. He knew of Mahavatar Babaji, he said, but had met him only through inner vision. Then, to verify the dream experience of the previous night, I asked him, 'What do you mean by the 'blue pearl?'"

"He said, 'You know. Your guru speaks of it in his autobiography. It's the same thing.'"

the book continues on where on page 143 Roy makes this observation,

"It is seldom that gurus from India teach with exactly the same emphasis when they visit the West. Swami Vivekananda, disciple of Sri Ramakrishna, brought the knowledge of Vedanta at the turn of the century. Paramahansa Yogananda made yogic procedures acceptable to hundreds of thousands because of his practical approach, and his emphasis upon Kriya Yoga meditation technique as a certain way to God-realization."

finally on page 65 Roy offers us this gem as he quotes Paramahansa Yogananda speaking to him while Roy visited him at Twenty Nine Palms retreat.

"I just finished the Gita. Now my work is done. A little while ago, after I had completed the final chapter, I was sitting here, meditating. I saw a gold circle of light at the spiritual eye, I opened my eyes and saw the gold circle of light, there on the wall. Then I saw Babaji, Lahiri, and Sri Yukteswar appear in the light, in succession. They had come to thank me for finishing the work on the Gita."

"Then he looked into my eyes. We were sitting very close. He said, "Roy, don't bother yourself with whether or not others seem intent on the path, whether they talk too much or waste their time. The important thing is that you go all the way, in this lifetime. And you can do it. You must do it. Sri Yukteswar used to say, 'The boat that carries souls across the river of delusion to the far shore of Self-realization is ready to depart. Who will go? Who will go? If no one goes, I will go!' You must be like that!"
