In his "The Path" 0n pages 508-50 Kriyananda recounts a story of one of Yogananda's disciples that was suffering from cancer and had been tricked by a bogus clinic that did nothing but take her money. She passed on. Master went on to speak her subsequent death. "I contacted her in the astral world. When I came upon her, she was being led away by an ANGEL,and was marveling at the beauty of the flowers in the field she was in.
I called to her but, but she didn't hear me. Again I called; this time she turned but didn't recognize me. In the transistion of death, you see he had forgotton. But I touched her, and recognition came "I will never forget you, she promised.
Then opening here flowing robe, she me where the cancer had been. 'See? she said, smiling she said smiling "It is gone now. "Soon therafter I saw her again in the sunset"

I also believe that Sri Yukteswar mention ANGELS when he appeared to Yogananda several weeks after his mahasamadi and explained in great detail the astral plane.
