Subject: I think when a show does the romance so well, and gives the viewers good stuff along the way, there is no need for fanfic. Imo, the reason JAG ff was so prolific and successful, is because there were so many gaps to fill. Forget gaps, there were giant chasms to fill. Even after it was all over, we all felt the need to complete the story. Right now, I wouldn't be remotely interested in Castle ff. The writers have given me what I need in spades. FF writers couldn't improve on the real thing.

I think even a show like Castle that gives us so much interaction between the leads, there's still always moments you'd like to see that they can't all cover on TV, or continuations you want to explore etc. I think when a show captures the hearts so much, people want more! It's like reading a good book that NEVER has to end. And every time you open that book your favorite characters are still around and yet you discover one more storyline you haven't seen.
