Subject: Some male writers (like our beloved JAG male lead) are just plain clueless.
In reply to: The Chief 's message, "Don't any of them have "LIVES" to draw from? Aren't some of them at least dating, if not married? Wouldn't they have some experience which might inspire their writing? Otherwise, it becomes an academic exercise and love is never academic!!! Also, another thought about "Moonlighting"...." on 01:02:20 05/25/11 Wed

I seriously needed a defibrillator watching the "get together" scene, done to the background song, Be My Baby. The show is an all time favourite in the one hour drama/comedy. Moonlighting is more like Castle than JAG, in that you can't take the scenario seriously all the time, but there are dark, dramatic moments that cut through the light comedic aspects. Moonlighting was simply brilliant in so many ways. The curse they always talk about had everything to do with CB's pregnancy that couldn't be hidden (she was very large with tw's ins), and that took up a whole year. When she came back, the magic was lost. The actors didn't seem to like each other, the scenarios were forgettable with each of them having different romantic interests. New BW girlfriend, Demi Moore, even had a walk on part and you could SEE where BW'.s real interest lay. Having her on brough real life into the scenario, and broke the fourth wall down in a jarring way

One more thing that killed Moonlighting. They were set to do a 3-D show, and then Hollywood was hit with a long, drawn-out strike. The strike ended just before the broken season ended, and that finally did in ML. When other producers and writers use the ML excuse, they are being lazy and passing the buck.
