Subject: JOE STAG - THE FAN

Most of us know Joe Stag as "Keeper of the Forum."

He is also THE FAN.

At the Loyola game last night, Joe was the only fan banging on the back of the seat in front of him with a drum roll, disrupting the Loyola foul shooters. It worked.

Some of the young college lads from Loyola got upset and took offense, especially with their team losing. They began calling a Joe a bad name, normally reserved for the posterior. I was next to Joe at the time.

I had indicated to Joe.....

1. I am too old to fight. Class of 1977 grad with Joe.

2. We were outnumbered, 100 to 4 (Joe Stag, Nashville Stag, Curious Stag, and Myself.)

3. If they decided to take the fight outside the Arena, we would really be in trouble.

Fortunately, the game ended in a Stag victory, before things REALLY heated up.

While I do feel some sense of accomplishment that I was able to get 500 college students to yell at me at once..... I am still trying to figure out how I tell this story to my 17 year old daughter, without further embarrassing her..... even though she was not even there.

Let it be noted that when I solicitated some fighting support from VaStag, Nashville, Curious, and don't forget Paulie74, you guys did not seem overly confident that us 5 could take on 500 students :-) But you are right, good thing we won.

Actually the Loyola students were great, as I told a few of them that, after the game. It was lots of fun and something we need to do every year.

Joe just go up to the biggest student in attendance and knock him out then the rest will not want to mess with you.:-)

Five Stags against 500 Loyola Puppie chow eaters? Sounds to me like they needed to recruit a few more kids to make it a fair fight!

I left with my friend who is a Loyola Fan since I knew Joe, Nashville, Paulie and VA had it covered.

I actually saw a few other FU fans on the way out...wonder why they didn't acknowledge us at the Arena? :-)
