Subject: Comments on the Women's team
In reply to: Antman 's message, "Stags' Lindsay to have greater role in offense" on 08:21:07am 10/20/05 Thu,

I saw the women's scrimmage last week and hear is some comments from following thses players these curretn set of players.

- Candice Lindsay has a lot of athletic talent, but her offensive skills needed improving. If they have improved, as this article has suggested, then it would be a huge boost to the womens program. What I saw at the scrimmage was some improvement, so the jury is still out.

- Sabra Wrice is going to be a great guard, and should be the top scorer on this team as a soph. The only question is should she play PG or 2G.

- Stephanie Ryan is another soph that should become a consistent double digit scorer as a SF.

- I have High Hopes for 6-2 center Stephanie Cziria, but she did not play well in the scrimmage, and looked mechanical and robotic..... almost tentative. Last year, she was aggressive, almost to a fault. She has a lot of talent and her improvement is critical.

- Baendu Lowenthal is a very good 6-0 frosh. She is almost as athletic as Schrene Isadora, but is bigger. Sabra Wrice's neighbor in NJ. I would say she has to start, and could end up as teh 2nd best player on this team.... this year.

- Lauren Groom is 5-11 and is listed as a guard. She is no guard. She runs like a forward. Looks to have a lot of skills. If she can rebound she can be a good 4..... and maybe some 3.

- The guard opposite Wrice. Meka Werts returns and does a lot of thinks well, but shoot. If she starts then Wrice moves to 2G. The Frosh Caskin looks good but did not do much in the scrimmage. If she is a true PG, she needs to do more. Frosh Shirell More is very athletic and can takit to the hoop. Has good size, but do,t know if she can shoot from outside.

- Ivan Podrug. Each year I hear of the potential improvment of Podrug. She was injured in scrimmage. But if she is in the game, that makes us a very slow team.

We can have a very athletic and quick team. I would start:

PG: Meka Werts
2G: Sabra Wrice
SF: Stephanie Ryan
PF: Candice Lindsay
PF: Baendu Lowenthal

I've had a lot of the same thoughts you have, Joe. If Cziria would focus on rebounding and defense she could really help. Wrice looks really ready.

I thought Lowenthal and Shiryell Moore looked the best of the freshman.
