[> Men's Soccer Returns To National Rankings With #24 Position -- Antman, 07:20:01pm 10/25/05 Tue, [1]

With only two weeks left in the regular season, there are few things that can create a diversion for Head Coach Carl Rees and his lads. Their focus may be on the four remaining Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) games on the schedule, and the possibility of earning a spot in the 2005 MAAC tournament. But today's news certainly caught the team's as well as the head coach's attention.

For the fifth season under Rees, the Fairfield University men's soccer program (8-3-3 overall) earned a spot in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) top 25 poll, checking into this week's action ranked 24th in the nation. The Stags were also ranked during the 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001 campaigns, reaching its highest level at number in 2001.

The poll certainly took into account the Stags incredible month of October. Fairfield remains unbeaten during this month of play, posting a 6-0-1 mark. The team has outscored the opposition by a 19-2 mark in those seven games, including three games of four or more goals.

"We are very pleased with the ranking," Rees said. "But we will still take it one game at a time with the focus shifting solely to Niagara on Friday night. The collective personality of the group is coming together. We are moving in the right direction."

The Stags will play their final two home games this weekend when they host Niagara University on Friday night at 7:00 pm. The home slate concludes on Sunday, October 30 when the team battles Canisius at 1 pm.

[> Stags in the Stands Showing Support! -- Stagophile, 01:10:49pm 10/27/05 Thu, [1]

According Dan Akerson of The Mirror...

During the Niagara game (tomorrow), pizza and beverages will be served throughout the game supplied by the Class Council and Athletic Department. All fans are encouraged to wear their "Stags in the Stands" shirts or any red shirt. There will be a bonfire following the game with music and dessert.

I just love the school spirit developing via Stags in the Stands. The showing of this kind of student spirit and support could only be the spring board to bigger and greater things for Fairfield across the board.

[> [> Stags in the Stands - donations -- JoeStag, 01:22:52pm 10/27/05 Thu, [1]

I have been exchanging emails with one of the organizers of Stags in the Stands, and he said it was OK to put his email on this message board if anyone is interested in making an individual donation. The Stag 6th Man has made a donation (Marco, check your email), but if people want to make their own pldege contact:

Marco Ambrosio <07_mambrosio@stagweb.fairfield.edu>

I understand that "Stags in the Stands" were at Parents weekend looking for donations to fund some of their t-shirts. Marco, and I am sure others, have put in a great effort to build this from the ground up.

Marco, if you are reading these boards, will you be looking for donations at Stag Games at Harbor Yards?????

Stag spirit will definitely be in fashion tomorrow night. Should be a great game and atmosphere. With another win tomorrow, (crossing my fingers) we should be able to move up in the rankings again.
