Subject: Interesting Scenario for tomorrows game

Stags beat St Peters tomorrow and we are in a tie for 4th place in the MAAC at 3-3. Lose and we drop to 7th, 8th or 9th. The MAAC is so tight right now, each game means a big swing in standings

Manhattan 5-0
Loyola 4-1
Iona 5-1
Saint Peter's 3-2
Canisius 3-3
Fairfield 2-3
Siena 2-3
Niagara 1-4
Marist 1-4
Rider 0-5

I think the Maac is very tight. The only two teams to distinguish themselves from the pack are Iona and Manhatten.

Records at this point can be somewhat deceiving. If you are 2-3 and lost on the road to Manhatten and Iona for example, you might still be still be an upper tier team. If you however have lost at home to Siena and Marist, and your wins came against Rider and Niagara, you might be in for a long season.

Fairfield's issue is their losses are not to Iona and Manhatten. They lost to Niagara, (Niagara's only win) and two middle tier squads Cansius and Loyola. They look to be a middle tier squad who is destine to play around 500 winning some games they should lose and losing some games they should win. They had the lead in the final minute of two of their losses. You could argue that with a defensive stop they would be 4-1. Then again, their 2 Maac wins have come by grabbing the lead in the final minute. You could argue they should have lost to Siena and Rider and should be 0-5. About all you can say about Fairfield at this point is that they won't finish first or last...
