Fairfield hasn't been very good this year, this was one we should have won. With the distinct possibility that your coach could be gone at the end of the year, it hurts to lose to a program that's so down right now.

Siena isn't good, should be next year, so wins we get this year are for pride.

FFLD's coach who "could be gone at the end of the year" outcoached .500 Fran. After halftime the defensive intensity was so much better. FFLD got away from the loose zone and used a lot more man on man. This resulted in a lot of sloppy Siena ballhandling and turnovers. Loose balls, offensive rebounds, put backs; FFLD wanted this game more than Siena. Saintly Saints whining is laughable. He's crying about Kojo. It's part of the game. Suck it up.

Siena, with their 5 starting guards was drilling Fairfield until Kojo went down. The switch from zone to man had everything to do with Kojo getting hurt - as FF has no one that would be able to stop dribble penetration by Kojo (FF was having trouble doing it in the zone)...once he went down, it was a no brainer to go man against Beers - who was trying to run the point.

Nice comeback by FF and congrats on the win. However, you guys won't win more than 5 or 6 MAAC games and your coach will be fired - you guys need a breath of fresh air anyway - 8 years is a long time for a coach to be running out a bunch of tweeners - you would think O'Toole would have a more balances team by now.

Gee, do you think having a year and a half long NCAA investigation that produced NOTHING hurt recruiting?

A 12 point lead at halftime (running an unbalanced FFLD "tweener" team out of the gym) only to lose. Yes! outcoached. If Siena's entire team falls apart because Kojo only played 25 of 40 minutes then which team is unbalanced. 70 shot attempts to 43. Halftime adjustments (coaching) is what won FFLD this game.

One of the most important part of coaching is that when adversity starts to happen, that the coach can get the players to refocus/regroup and turn it around. TOT did it, and Macaffery did not. I have to commend Macaffery as he did not offer the excuses like the Siena newspapers, players and fans are doing. It was the players on the court that had the Stags get 10 O-boards in the second half.

Bottom line is that every game players are injured, or sick or in foul trouble....... you deal with it, not offer excuses. The Siena players on the court were not prepared to handle the situation, and thats the heart of coaching.

I do like hearing the sour grapes from both SS and soup..... I think its funny, as when all else fails after a loss, just offer excuses, and suggest that the winning coach should be fired.

Siena is severly undermanned this year. Telling Siena fans we don't have a backup plan if someone gets hurt is akin to telling someone the building is on fire after it's burned to the ground

That's the context Siena fans have. Bottom line, which you still refuse to acknowledge, is that if Kojo doesn't get hurt, Fairfield gets run out of the building.

It's clear to even the most biased Fairfield fan that TOT is on the hot seat. You seem to be suggesting that soup and I are saying TOT will be fired as some sort of a cheap retort. Not true.

Fairfield has achieved the same level of success as Rider since ToT has been your coach. That's why he's on the hot seat and was at the beginning of the year.

Interesting how you guys forget that two years ago, TOT lost his two best players (Todd and Gai) for the second semester, yet was able to keep the team together and end up with 19 wins.

You guys lose your best guy for 10 minutes and collapse.

Please look at your own bias. Dunphy is not the second coming of John Wooden. And TOT is not as big a dolt as you guys make him out to be. The Stags are consistently near the top of the MAAC. And if it weren't for a last second collapse against Loyola, we'd be undefeated right now. Hardly the makings of a coach getting fired. Especially a coach who is an alumni.

[* If Kojo Mensah plays 12.6 more minutes Siena beats FFLD on 1/5/06.] Maybe the Siena fans can lobby for Ensor to include this asterisk in the final 2005/2006 MAAC standings. Maybe it can count as a "half a win". Instead of Siena finishing 9-9 they can be 9-1/2 & 8-1/2.

Yes they can call it the "Mensah Factor" and also use it in the ComputerRPI calculation.... like if Mensah plays only 30 of 40 minutes (75%), then you only get .75 of a win when you beat Siena. :-)

Losing a player like Mensah does impact the game, but what the these few Siena fans fail to relize is that all teams face adversity, and its how you handle the adversity is whats important. Certainly the Stags have had the most adversity this year with losing players, and in some games we handled it very well, others very poorly.

How about the Iona game, when Wascsmann went down with a concussion and they were down 17 ...... and then came back to win against Fresno state. I bet the Iona players weren't making excuses in the huddle.... they dealt with it.

A lot of Siena fans are familiar with Mensah, but based on some of their comments, I'm not sure that too many are familiar with Mensa.

I prefer this phrasing:

A lot of Siena fans will be meeting Mensah, but based on some of their comments, I am sure they will never attend a Mensa meeting.
