I went to see Nero( RED HOOK HS) and team play on Tuesday. The game was a blow out from the very beginning, and i left at the end of the third quarter(after Nero was taken out) when the score was Red Hook HS 71 and Roosevelt(FDR) 17. Neros team trapped FDR all over the court and blew them out from the very beginning. Red Hook was much bigger and stronger then FDR. Red Hook has a 6'3' center and a 6'5' forward to go along with 6'7" Greg Nero. Not much competiton from FDR. Nero is a solid built kid( strong upper body). He reminds me body wise of Brad Fellecia(ugh!) I watched him closely and he played mostly outside on offense. He does not seem to be post up player(power forward or a center). He moves quickly on defense during trapping situations and appears to run the floor very well once the ball was coughed up by FDR. During this game at least he did not appear to be an aggressive rebounder. However, you cannot judge much from just one game. Red Hooks next game is in a tournament at Kingston NY HS which should provide a better level of competition.

TM,

Good report. Where did Nero score all his points????? Where they outside jumpers, put backs, how far is his shooting range, and can he hit the 3-pointer.

Why doesn't he seem to be a post up player????. Does he play facing the basket, or back to the basket, or did he just not go down low at all.

What position do you see him playing for the Stags???

Great report! I hope you were wearing your Stags gear to let Greg know that the Stags were in the house.
