In reply to: Rave 's message, "Re: Scout.com - Rob Hampton" on 10:30:19am 12/07/05 Wed,

I would think that we are looking at him as a SF/3G wing player. Since he is a wide receiver it sounds like he is fast and strong underneath to defend the 3 position both inside and outside. It all depends if he can hit the three-pointer, which is needed these days at the 3. In his last game he had 10pts and 5reb and made one 3-pointer on a very talented Christ the King team.

We do have a need for a player that can replace Bell and MVS at that position. Hampton sounds like he is more athletic than those two, but not as good a shooter. Being a football player, I assume he is good defensively.

Hampton is ranked #19 in NYC

Agree, with Bell and MVS graduating we need a replacement.

Do you think Jon Han might have some influence with #15 ranked Tyrone Nash from his former high school, Lawrence Woodmere?

He doesn't list Fairfield and has offers from Bucknell, Providence, Manhattan, Siena, Penn, Yale. He must be a excellent student.

I believe that Tyrone Nash visited Fairfield in October. Since that time, he has said that he wants to attend Prep school next year because he wants to play at a Major. However at 6-6 1/2, he might not be big enough for a PF at a Major, and currently he does not have the outside game to play the 3 at a Major.

So the thinking is that if he goes prep he will either improve his outside game, or get bigger.

At Fairfield or another MAAC school he wouild potentially be a star right of way. Han changed his mind about Prep, maybe he can convince also Nash to do so

[> [> [> NYHoops comments on Hampton's shooting -- JoeStag, 12:22:50pm 12/07/05 Wed, [1]

From what I have read, it seems that Hampton is a good shooter, but he is also a very good rebounder. And since he is not the star on very good teams (CTK and Team Odom), then they play him where they need him the most..... which seems like PF/SF. Here are some comments from NYHOOPS:

- 2. Christ the King- Great perimeter players. inside presents a question. but not a better ball handiling team in the state.
Key 3: (Larry Davis, Rob Hampton, Malik Boothe) Young Sleepers: Andrew Gabriel and Erving Walker

- That answer is too easy . Odom has Malik , Larry , McKenzie and Rob Hampton at Guard . Who are you sitting ? In fact I will be very interested in seeing how CK handles all these guards this year . Who is the one bringing up the ball ? Especially in crunch time .

- There is alot of shooters, I really do not think there is any great ones though, just whole bunch of guys if you leave open they will make you pay. In other words there is not too many guys that really pull up of the dribble or in the middle of a crossover and give you a facial from threepoint range on a consistent basis. (The kind of kids who will love nothing better than to have a 3 point oppurtunity)

Brian Mckenzie (probably the best shooter in the city)
Dwight Hardy ( can hurt you off the dribble also)
Rasheem Jenkins
ErvingWalker
Andre Tarver
Milan Prodanovic
Edgar Sosa
Gil Montalvo
Wes Federique
Rob Hampton
Kidani Brutus
Sean Crawford (really improved his jumpshot lately)
Paul Scotland
James Feldeine
Nick Leon
Shannon Mcbean
Malcolm Grant
Dwan Mcmillan
Jason Smith
Trevon Charles
Mike Troll (I only saw him play once, and he went crazy from deep)
Evan Thomas
Ryan Davis
Larry Davis
Daryl Crawfrord
