You are correct - he does not have the most talent in the world. Also, I respect his play - he plays hard and he gets the most out of his very limited talent.

Carter is getting 27.0 minutes a game and averaging 5.2 points and only 3.5 rebounds. You simply cannot win Div I basketball games depending upon this type of starter. His stats tell the whole story. He would make a fine Div II player.

Wow Frank F. Umm may I state that Alvin Carter is playing out of position this season. He is not a center but a talented small forward who would be able to produce more if placed in his rightful position. The man is playing his heart out this season and all you can say is that he would be a fine D II player? Let's get serious here Carter can def play ball in the MAAC!! And from personal experience Alvin is a lot more talented then you guys think!!! D II player? Get Real!!

You are correct - he is playing out of position. BUT EVERY STAG PLAYS OUT OF POSITION, don't you realize that. That's part of playing Fairfield U basketball. ;o)

Gentlemen, let the stats speak for themselves...

Not to pick on one individual as this was an all around butt whooping, but, Big Al went 0-7 in fgs, ZERO rebounds and 3 PFs. He did go 2-2 in fts.

But, then again Big Al was playing against a guy almost a foot taller than him. So I recommend we put this performance behind us and give Big Al a chance until we can show his abilities into MAAC play!

The stats have spoken on Carter for a long time now. He gives 100% so I am not critical of his effort. I am critical of his skills....they are not suitable to Div I basketball.

And how are you exactly certain if he is a Div I player or not? Ok his stats aren't the greatest. but HE'S OUT OF POSITION. He's a far more better small forward if given his rightful position. Al Carter is def suitable for Div 1, especially the MAAC. Let's get real.

Let's keep these discussions with respect to the players, and no reason to start putting lables on players like Division II or calling players other names.

Carter is being put in a position that its very difficult for him to succeed, and he has played well at times and not so at others, but no reason to blast him. He has been asked to play starter minutes, and in the past years he was a 3rd team forward, and this year was projected to probably be an improtant backup forward. Having him play center is really a double reach for him. He did not cause this situation, we were supposed to have MOS and Max play up front, with both Carter and Middelton getting backup minutes.

As far as the Carter-Middleton discussion, Middleton has been more effective lately, especially in the defense and rebounding area. I think his presence alone is helping the defense, and thats where we need help . The last 3 games, both these players have split time, so I would probably start giving Middleton more minutes that Carter...... but thats all depending on the opponent and matchups.

But that discussion might be less important as hopefully both Max and Mamadou will be available after Fordham (no prognosis on MOS). If both Max and Mamadou both are eligible, they will probably eat more into Carter's minutes as they are similar in style type players, except much more talented.

My guess is nobody knows whether or not we are going to get Max back so, for all intents and purposes, I think we have to assume that we are NOT going to get him and look to Mamadou as the only addition to the team come 2nd Semester. I hope I am wrong because we really need him but I don't want to be disappointed if he doesn't come back and we're all pinning hopes on his help down low...

All indications are looking towards Maxwell returning. He did community service, he has been at the games at Harbor Yards and he has been practicing with the team. That assurres nothing, but all good signs. Even what TOT and Doris said at Doc's Roundable in November suggests that Max will be back....... but if you are waiting for guartentees, we will probably have to wait until 12/30. At least the Cal-State Northridge game can be used as a game to get any rust off Max or Mamadou.

They both offer inside scoring, athleticism at the forward, rebounding, defense and a toughness to their game to get to the FT line....... all those things we really need. It would be nice to see MOS back too, but I am less confident about that.... still an unknown.

This team will have to be re-invented again. It was a major re-invention when Gai-Goode-Kudjo left..... it was re-invented when Max became ineligible, and then again when MOS got hurt. Almost like when Gai and Todd went out 2 years ago. It was not just a player filling in for another, the entire team had to change.

If Geoff can progress a little each game, we would have a player that can give us 7 boards game. Carter will never do that. Big Geoff could be starting next game. No offense, but who cares. He needs to throw his body around and knock some people down and control the boards. Use up all those fouls, because we don't want him at the line at the end game anyways.
