Frankly Joe I think I've been extremely fair. If all we are to expect of a coach is tha he be better then 25 lousy years we've set a pretty low bar. As someone else said finishing 3rd in the MAAC is no great accomplishment.

I'm not saying we should win the MAAC every year, but are you content with 0 for 7? MB & PC had 2 post season appearances in a much shorter tenure yet they were let go because of their shortcomings.

My major complaint, however, is that I don't see any growth in this program. For example I think when you return 4 starters from a 19 win team, including a player who is "NBA caliber you should do better then 15-15.

I respect those who feel we should wait for Han to develop & for the much anticipated Greg Nero. My question is can TOT help them develop their full potential, or in 3 years will we be looking at a new batch of re cruits to be the saviours?

Am I correct as to the function of this Forum? It's to discuss, critique, and analyze FU Hoops but with a sense of decorum. I truly like what Ray S just posted above but feel like He, Frank or I will get scolded for not just being happy or positive. We all personally respect TOT and support the program. However, it's not looking good so why pretend that it's ok? Most other team's fans don't!

OK, we're not a "Big Time" school so we don't have fans like Maryland or Indiana do. When that means that we don't throw batteries at the other team's parents, it is good. However, when it means passive acceptance of mediocrity, I wish I went to GW, Bucknell, Miami of Ohio or bigger school that has more devout fans and students.

Gents, this type of talk and criticism is what SPORTS FANS DO!!!! If we cannot do that here, I apologize for my posts and will take my thoughts and analysis to a FU forum elsewhere.

cmaynstag, Nobody was scolded, and no posts were deleted. I thought Ray's post was one-sided, and only showed one side of the story and was unfair. I disagreed with the fairness of his post.

Yes, this board is about discussing, critiquing, and analyzing Fairfield Basketball, and all that is allowed and always has been allowed. But suggesting that a coach, a player, or another Fairfield University employee should get fired, is not really the goal of this Message board. My name is on this board, and I have to make sure that this board does not turn into a witch hunt against an individual, be it player or coach.

Now I understand that this is sports and people always want to bring up the need to go in another direction. But if your going to go there, you better be fair and not just state one side of the story. Reread my response to Ray, all I was asking him is to be Fair. I understand its tough to be fair, if we lose a tough game and are 1-6, cause we are all emotional and caring fans. But we still must be Fair, and I am here to protect the players and coaches that it does not turn into a witch hunt..

Ray, I do agree with your current post above that we have to start winning MAAC Championships and thats a goal and concern that we have not reached that under TOT, but did under prior coaches. But at the same time, you have to acknowledge that TOT has brought us consistent winning in the MAAC and has won about 59% of his MAAC games against 39% from the prior coaches. Consistent winning was a major first goal of this program after 20 years of inconsistent and moistly losing seasons. And yes the Bar has been raised, as it was just a few years ago we ere just looking to be .500.

And Ray, I also agree that last year's 15-15 record was a major disapointment, but the 2 years prior we well over most peoples predictions.

I do not expect me and Ray to agree on the direction, and thats fine. But I do expect that if people are suggesting that a player or coach be removed, they should be Fair and respecfull on the evaluation of the good and the bad.

As far as people coming on this board and suggesting that Recruits should not attend Fairfield, or suggesting that fans should not attend games, or the basketball that we play is a disgrace ........ that just does not belong on this message board. And I realize that people might say some of those things after a tough loss, but to constantly repeat the same things...... that is a negative agenda that hurts the credibility of Fairfield and not allowed and nor welcome on this Message board. I listen to a lot of feedback about this Message board., and thats not just my view..... thats the view of many people who read this board..... and I also am here to represent the wishes of the many readers of this board who come here for information, not someones personal negative agenda.

This board has always allowed discussing, critiquing, and analyzing...... and it has always has had rules.

J.S. with regard to your "Enough is Enough" post, I think that you must be very careful about dismissing people from this board. Frank played the role of devil's advocate here and many of us did not like it. Perhaps he had a tendency to become too adversarial and too controversial. But many of the points that he made about the program were valid. I don't agree with the personal attacks. But I do agree with the general tenor of his remarks. Sometimes for the greater good it is necessary to listen to that voice crying in the wilderness!

I have no problem with Frank's posts on basketball, and thats not the problem. His outbursts like big man have to be crazy to consider Fairfield, and fans should not attend games, and the basketball that we play is a disgrace.... are the issues.

RM, I am careful and serious with my decision, as I do get and solicit input from many people. I used to try reasoning, but not any more. I feel people have to understand the rules and take responsibility for their words. Everybody else acts in a civil respectful manner. I stive to manage this board by the following rule.

If you cannot write a Respectful critical comment, then you should not be writing that post.

If Frank had written "big men would be crazy NOT to consider Fairfield" or "fans SHOULD attend games" would that be objectionable material? I'm not sure I agree with Frank's take, but shouldn't he get to voice his opinion? Even Bill O'Reilly gives his opponents a say.
