In reply to: Frank F 's message, "Thoughts On The Prov Game" on 10:58:48pm 11/28/05 Mon,

Regarding Todd, MVS, and Bell:

I thought Todd did not play smart that last 4 minutes: he clearly is the go to guy, but I think he panicked the last two or three possessions. His shots were rushed, I believe the second to last possession with about 1:30 to go, he took a baseline jumper in traffic that missed and only about 10 or 15 seconds came off the shot clock. Smarter, calmer play would have looked for a better shot. And why can't he ever seem to hit a big free throw? Same thing last year - two or three games he missed key free throws down the stretch.

I thought both Bell and MVS took good, smart shots. MVS's fell, Bell's didn't.

The things I was impressed with were good shot selection, good hustle, and aggressiveness. Looking at the boxscore, I was surprised we were beat on the boards so badly. But the fact the we had 13 offensive rebounds was impressive. Also, 13 steals on the night, taking advantage of some sloppy play by Providence.

Did you notice Hanke missed his first shot, then made his next 9? But he was pretty slow. What will Providence do in the Big East this year?

Bell was a huge disappointment last night. If Oglesby can maintain anything close to his production last night, Bell will probably have to come off the bench. Danny was the big story for me, and his defense was solid. If we look back at this as a breakout game for him then hopes can be much higher in the MAAAC.

We may start in January with Han, Todd, DO, Mamadou and Max.
