Re: How will we win any MAAC games with this tiny frontcourt? -- Frank F, 10:07:35pm 11/21/05 Mon, [1]
This game was disgraceful. Your home opener and there wasn't one moment - I repeat, not one moment, when you could have cheered for this team (other than the introductions).
Many people commented that they will not return to watch this kind of a product. It really was very hard to sit through. This is a team with Div III size and Div II talent trying to play Div I basketball.

Time to do a little soul searching folks.
I doubt it would have made much of difference even with Max in the lineup. Plus we had less than 3,000 fans attending to see one of highest profile opponents ever at AHY. The St. Francis loss was disappointing, but, I don't believe it was disappointing enough to influence 2,000 to 3,000 fans not to attend the game.
Very disappointing evening on many levels!

Couldn't agree more with you Stagophile......
Very disappointing turnout given the fact that a high profile opponent was there. To take it a step further, I sat in Section 115 tonight....row L.. and I was surrounded and I mean surrounded by St. Joe's fans/alum. I looked around and all I saw was St. Joe's sweatshirts and hats...I now know what Custer felt like....lol
The team played probably the worst game I have seen since they have played at AHY. They were never in the game, were outsized at every position, could shoot (did they miss an open jumper ?) and played good D (did we get an open jumper in the first half ?). Maxwell would have battled as he always does, but I don't think his presence would have made a bit of differnece.
I also agree with Frank F. Playing this kind of basketball will not get anyone but the diehards to return to the arena. I already have tickets for Providence, I have a real bad feeling about that game also....
Only bright spot was Han.... I think he is a player, and will excel for the Stags for 4 years. Now all he needs is some help !
Lastly, in checking today's NY Post the line on this game was 2 1/2...... what were those odds makers smoking ? Maybe the peace pipe !

I've had enough already. Last game you'll see me at. Both my kids just about fell asleep. No way I'll ever again part with a C note to see this kind of performance. Heck, even before the abortion, you could just sense we didn't belong on the same court. Seemed like more St. Joe fans. Of course, they at least had something to cheer about.

The most disappointing part of this game is that they beat us in every facet of the game. They were not only bigger and stronger, but they they were quicker at ehsame time. They had the 6-10 kid play guard Cathales(sp) that was out quicking our guys to the hoop. They actually played a slowdown game, running plays to perfection.
But maybe their offense is not as good as it seemed. Maybe it was our defense. They were wide open from 3, and had a lot of time to get relaxed and shoot. I still don't know how that happened.
After St Joes got up by 20, it seemed like we were not even going for any o-boards...... one and done. And even when we did get some rebounds we either could not hold onto the ball or fell down when we reached the floor.
I would say that this is one of our most dominating losses, even worse than some of the UCONN and Duke losses, because they dominated in every aspect. Got to give St Joes credit as they were still focused and working for good shots even when they ere up by 25.
Han the only Bright spot. Todd and Bell still battled and eventually had some good hoops. Middletons 2 blocks at least showed some defensive presence
