Subject: The Sports Network - MAAC preview

Our buddies at The Sports network has us tabbed for 8th in the MAAC, and thats with Maxwell in the Line-up. The Rankings:

1. Iona;
2. Manhattan;
3. Canisius;
4. Niagara;
5. Marist;
6. Rider;
7. Saint Peter's;
8. Fairfield;
9. Siena;
10. Loyola- Maryland

Most surprising to me is picking Loyola 10th. I don't think anyone has given them nearly that little respect.

I agree, though I'm not so sure that they will be nearly as good as some others think they will be.

Transfers, as we have seen, usually take a while to get back on their feet. And sometimes transfers from top level programs think that they can come in and be a one-man show. They often don't live up to the advanced billing.

I'd like to see Loyola improve, and if Fofana has any game at all, he could be an absolute monster in the MAAC. We'll start finding out soon.

Generally the publications and websites don't seem to be up on mid to low major teams, and their predictions sometimes are pretty weak.

I'm curious to see what the MAAC coaches think. I'm guessing that the coach's voting will be announced at the MAAC Media Day.

Normally I don't put a lot of stock in these magazine predictions. But the sports network did a pretty good job last year, the person who did their previews seems pretty knowledgable about the Maac.

I know Loyola is not going to win the Maac but I have to think they are a lock to beat Siena. I think with Maxwell playing Fairfield does better than 8th, even without him the stags should be no worse than sixth. It will be interesting to see if these guys are right, I tend to think they didn't do a good job on this years predictions, but then they are no worse than anyone elses.....

We have a frontcourt that is inexperienced and a backcourt with one guy who has shown that he is dependable( Todd). We know that Maxwell is a player but God only knows how the rest of these guys are going to perform. With all of these unknowns I can understand why any evaluator would be reluctant to jump on the Fairfield Bandwagon.
