In reply to: FU73 's message, "Sacred Heart University & Fairfield Prep Athletics" on 07:28:50pm 11/10/05 Thu,

Let's not forget Quinnipiac...look at what they have done with men's ice hockey, slipping into the ECAC, one of the premiere hockey conferences. Quinnipiac is building a new, on-site facility, too.

Also interesting that they drew 5,000+ for their inaugural ECAC home game in Hartford against Harvard (a win). Granted they followed that with just over 1,000 against Dartmouth at Northford (in fairness, I'm not sure how many Northford holds).

Yep, we discussed this one. No doubt with the Arena at Harbor Yards, Fairfield Hockey would have been playing in the ECAC Hockey League right now! Yet another huge miscalculation hopefully never to occur again under the new leadership!

And if we kept football, I am fairly certain we would be playing in the Patriot League right now. Again, yet another huge miscalculation hopefully never to occur again under the new leadership!

Looks like Duquesne is ready to follow former MAAC member Georgetown into the Patriot League. The Patriot League has been looking to add additional football schools and we would have been in line to take this spot! Academic profile is big factor in Patriot League decisionmaking and while Fairfield may not up to snuff with most of the league, I believe we would have been "satisfactory." :-) Plus with three other Jesuit school Presidents (i.e., Holy Cross, Fordham and Georgetown) weighing in on the decision, I am certain we would have been picked.

As a Stag Alumnus, it is very sad to read these threads...we're talking PREP and SHU....???? and whether the Stags can (hopefully) be middle-of-pack in the weak MAAC...already St Peter's is 0-2....SHU gets WICC coverage....SOMEONE is asleep at the wheel...does anyone dare challenge that assumption????...i am really sad and ANGRY by the lack of "vision" from a university that I pride myself as having VISION
