Subject: PRESEASON SCRIMMAGES

Does anybody know of a rule that prohibits fans attending pre-season scrimmages? I was told I couldn't watch the Yale/Hofstra scrimmage on Sunday for that reason. I was able to watch the Hofstra/AIC (D2 school) scrimmage at Hofstra.

I think there is a difference between exhibition games and scrimmages. Exhibition games are handled as real games, 40 minutes, fouls kept, etc., while scrimmages are usually closed because they are more practice than game.I THINK! I know the HU - AIC game was labeled as a game, as was the FU - AIC women's game last week. The FU - Southern CT "thing" Friday night was called a scrimmage and nothing was reported on the internet or newspapers.

BTW - How did Hofstra women look Sat? Are you on LI? Gratuated HU and still season ticket holder (MBB & FB).
Also try to see a few women's games down there.

No, I am a Sacred Heart fan.
I wanted to see what they looked like.
We play them in a week.
Also, one of the fans I sat with last
is a freshman there this year.

To be honest I wasn't that impressed.
Hofstra won 62-58.

exhibition games are open to the public, but cannot be against another D1 team. scrimmages are typically set against other D1 teams and are required to be closed although it seems a few observers often happen to witness these events.

the scrimmages are not run as a regular game. typically a number of shorter segments with teams using differnet player combinations and working on specific sets. etc.

i think many coaches prefer (see more value in) the scrimmages, but some offer an exhibition game for the fans and to give players something closer to game condition experience.
