With the loss of Brewington, this matchup will be very interesting.

The Stags have a real chance especially playing on their home court... Pulling this win would be huge for the program.

I bought tickets today. Third row.

I am absolutely in shock that a big time school like Providence is coming into Bridgeport and I can walk up to th box office and get 3rd row seats.

If there are less than 6,000 people at the arena for St. Joe's and/or Providence I think the Harbor Yard experiment has failed.

Know where you're coming from. Arena Ticket Manager said the other day that he doesn't understand why they even bother holding college games there. Said there is absolutely no local interest. Even the students don't show, he said.

I think we all need to give our new president a chance. All indications are he wants to do it right. More funding has already been allocated and for the first time in 35 years, I see some hope. I do agree this is our last shot. Need to give it another 5 full seasons.

I would agree except for the administration finally seems to be figuring out that marketing thingy as evident by their hiring the Leffler Agency. We need to give it three more years with hopefully a winning team and a concerted professional marketing effort to see if we can develop a greater awareness and interest in the Stags. If three years from now we are still looking at the same lackluster picture, then I would agree that the experiment failed and the old plans for refurbishing Alumni Hall should be dusted off.

Rider gets about 700-900 students for home games and about 100 to the SBA for games it is difficult to get students out if they can't walk there even if busses are provided.

Attendance will probably be less than 6,000, because capacity has been reduced to 5,700 with the new reconfiguration. There are options to increase cpapcity if need be.

Stags have had one Big East team come to Harbor Yard and St Johns drew 5,300, so I would think that hiustory would tell us the figure should be similar to that. But putting a figure of less than 6,000 fans means that Harbor Yards has failed does not make sense. Last year Providence played Niagara, a similar school to Fairfield, and drew 6,200 in Providence in a similar early season, mid week game (and that was their opener). So does that mean that Providence was only 200 fans away from the Dunk being called a failure for Providence????? I don't think so.

IMO, a matchup of a Providence - Fairfield game should probably draw 5,000 in Bridgeport, and probably 7,000 if its played in Providence for an early season Mopnday night game.

I would disagree that students don't show up. They averaged 475 students per game last year and more is expected this year. Getting students to come to an off campus game has been a challenge, but the the Stag's in the Stands is making very good progress.

The "experiment" is successful in one sense... they are getting St. Joe's, Providence and Georgetown to play in Bridgeport, CT. This NEVER would have happened at Alumni Hall.

The "experiment" is an utter failure if these marquee games do not put people in the seats. These games should introduce fans to the program and start to build a base.

I do think the new configuration will help a LOT. The students make these games a lot of fun. Moving them out of the corner will help.

I still think that if St. Joe's and Providence do not draw that this project may be doomed. They have had enough experience at the arena to draw a base. It simply is not there. If people do not come to see the majors, why would they come to see Rider or St Peter's.

I will also address one reply specifically. Providence drawing 7,000 for a season opener against a weak team is an entirely different comparison than Fairfield welcoming a major conference opponent. Fairfield should sell out these games. Period.
