For us to make the playoffs, we are going to have to beat the Knights and the Colt 45's are going to have to beat the Bears.

Let's make it happen!!!

Subject: Moshier ready....Goldman back, but for how long?

It isn't the news the Dodgers hoped for concerning Sean Goldman’s hernia, but it could have been worse.
The center fielder, who just came off the DL and is suppose to start in this weeks game on 5/21/06 vs. the Waves, is scheduled to have hernia surgery again in early to mid June. During Goldman’s routine check up on Monday, the doctor indicated that the first surgery was unsuccessful and that he would have to do it all over again. Goldman indicated that he would play a couple more games before his next surgery. There was no time table noted on his return after that.
Now for the promising news, Joe Moshier, on the disabled list retroactive to March 5 with a bad elbow, is expected to rejoin the team on Sunday for the game with the Santa Monica Waves.
Moshier, who hit .500 in the Fall 2005 season, is expected to be a big lift for the struggling Dodgers who have dropped three straight games in which two of them were to sub 500 teams. There’s no doubt that injuries have hurt the Dodgers this year, but they are looking to get back on track in the next few weeks with some solid victories.

Subject: Goldman, Dodgers OK $11.5M, 1-Year Deal

Author:

Date Posted: 03/29/06 2:27:04pm

March 29, 2006

Santa Monica, Ca. – Center Fielder Sean Goldman and the Golden State Dodgers agreed Wednesday to an $11.5 million, one-year contract extension through 2007.

The 34-year-old Goldman, who gets $9.4 million this year under his previous contract, receives a $2 million signing bonus payable in installments and a 2007 salary of $9 million. The deal contains a $9 million team option for 2008 with a $500,000 buyout, and the option would become guaranteed if he has 100 plate appearances in 2007.
With performance bonuses and escalators, the extension could be worth $22.35 million over two years.
"I'm willing to dedicate myself to get a championship with the Golden State Dodgers. It would be nice to get another one with a new team to go along with my previous 2 championships with the San Diego Marlins and the Valley Yankees"
Goldman, the 1999 MVP with the San Diego Marlins in which he lead his team to capture an N.A.B.A. Championship that year, has a .460 batting average in his 3-year career with the G.S. Dodgers and is one of just four Center Fielders to get 15 or more hits a season 3 times. He is the only center fielder hit 4 home runs in a Fall Season.
Goldman was signed by the Dodgers as a free agent in June 2004. In his first season with Golden State Dodgers, he lead the team in batting average, hits, runs, RBI’s and homeruns.
To me, he's got Hall of Fame credentials. He's as competitive as anyone," Dodgers manager Jason Kent said. "You look at his last 3 years and he plays a lot, plays hurt, plays through just about everything. I think he's one of the best players on the club."
After mulling this spring whether he would play beyond the end of his initial contract, Goldman made up his mind Tuesday to keep playing.
"I've been wracking my brain, pulling my hair out thinking about it," Goldman said. "I've been talking to people in the game and my family, most importantly. It came to a head last night."

I would never apologize to you guys for my performance on the field. You all know me well enough to know that I give %1000 every time I step out on the field. But yesterday, I lost my ability to be effective on the mound, I knew it, and that is why I pulled myself out. But I apologize for the way I did it, just walking off the field. I saw Evan warming in the bullpen and when he came back to the dugout, I knew he was ready. But I should have called Jason over to pull me out instead of walking off alone. And for that, I apologize. I was not angry, I was not hot, I was disappointed in myself for letting myself and the team down. So please forgive me for my extremely unprofessional actions, it will not happen again. You guys did an amazing job out there supporting me and Evan, as you always do, and we appreciate it so much. So keep up the great work!
