I think my point was missed, and that a lot of people are misguided by the show's "purpose." Simon Cowell is nothing less than P. T. Barnum for the new millennium, and there's still a sucker born every minute.

I completely agree with what Sheryl Crow said last week; that is is about commercialism and not art, and that it makes her sad that people love it so much.
