As far as dating co-workers, I don't think there's too much of a problem dating a co-worker, although if things go wrong and you have to work closely with the person, it can be very problematic for the two people in the relationship as well as their co-workers - I think it's more of an issue when there's a discrepency in the amount of power that each person in the relationship has. It's not generally a good idea for a boss to date a "subordinate."
The inequality of power can so easily lead to a whole host of problems on both sides if the relationship doesn't work out. Even if the relationship does work, there are still problems associated with it (the boss is taking advantage, the subordinate is being favored, etc).
