In Ireland this year, there is a feis on that is a No Dress Feis - everyone will just be wearing black tops and shorts (or skirts) http://www.dance.net/topic/6111784/1/Irish-Feiseanna/The-No-Dress-Feis.html

I think this would be a really good idea for our March feis. It's always sooo hot that wearing a solo dress is unbearable, and it would give people who grew out of their dresses over Christmas more time to organise a new dress!

It could even be a charity event? Like bring a gold coin donation in order to go dress free (like school free dress days)

I know a lot of people were struggling in the heat this year, and it wouldnt really take any extra organisation - just a message on the top of the entry form about it and notifying the teachers in plenty of time about it!

hi! could someone please explain to me about the current rules regarding recalls? how many has to be in a section to recall & how many of the section recalls? if there is a small section where there is no recall, does everyone get a place? -- thanks, 1/08/07 9:01:10pm [4]

- recalls happens when there is more than 20 competitors in a section (at states). I think that when there is 20 or more dancers, the top 50% of dancers get recalled and do their set dance, and all of the people who complete their set dances place. For sections with under 20 competitors, every dancer does their set dance, but only 50% place. I'm pretty sure that all of the boys at states don't do recalls, and i think that every section from the 15years girls doesn't either. (NT) -- corect me if I'm wrong :), 2/08/07 4:24:34pm
- so do all dancers stand on stage during presentations or are they off stage? what happens if there is say 22 dancers & only 18 are there on the day. what rule applies (NT) -- op, 2/08/07 9:05:31pm
- Usually at presentations, eberyone stands on the stage at the back in a big semi-circle and they call out the places, in decending order, up until first place. It's very exciting! It's not like worlds where you find out your place/scores before you go on stage, you find out as they're calling the places and names. It's really good, it gives everyone equal acknowledgement, which is really good. PLus, its really nerve wracking when they get down to the final few. Just Brilliant! I just wanted to say a BIG BIG thank you to the lovely Mrs Trish Williams ADCRG for taking the time to keep us all informed on this board. I have noticed on the Australian Board people from other states asking questions about events which never get official answers. Therefor, people guess and make assumptions and misleading information gets sent around. My family are always very busy and with Trish's help on this forum we can plan ahead. Some teachers are not easy to contact and this board saves me contacting my daughters teacher in her private time. Thank you Trish and Thankyou AIDA Qld.

I had the pleasure of attending the QIA Feis Beg/Primary -- yesterday. I was so impressed with the standard and also the, 1/07/07 12:35:24pm [2]
number of children supporting ID.Particularly enjoyed the teams. Kudos to all the teachers. The QIA feis organisers and helpers deserve a special mention - as always a great feis and the food is always enjoyable. Thank You

- As a slightly experienced mum I think it is important that mum's / dad's don't get stressed. This gets the dancers stressed and causes all kinds of trouble. Be well prepared, try your hardest to relax and enjoy the weekend. (NT) -- Good luck!, 1/07/07 7:23:17am

- Thank you very much, yes i had my little girl on the 28 may at 9.07pm, she was 8 pounds 2!!! haha big girl but she is just gorgeous. She is also very good. Olivia was 14 days over due and i ended up being induced but the labour was not to bad..till i had to push!!!! I am pleased she is here and we are very happy. - Its Expensive enough by the time you pay entry for your DD or Son then teams then parents, grandparents door entry then Programs. Add that to the cost of competiting at the other Feisanna's during the year. Then you have wigs, shoes, socks not to forget those dresses (NT) -- Much to expensive for parents without feeling guilty they can't afford a Tshirt, 10/06/07 5:57:11pm
  - Just about everyone who has been dancing for long enough does states. The way that our states/nats/worlds is run is different to other sports (with qualifying and stuff) so although it's a great achievement to dance at states it's not that same as say qualifying for athletics! Gold Coast Feis E-programme and time schedule has been sent to all teachers and will appear online on Monday. Limited programmes will be available at the feis. This year we are trying to be a little eco friendly and asking those who want a programme to bring their own which will be available for online download from Monday. Files are in PDF format. If anyone has problems you may email me direct for a MS Word document.

Our apologies in advance for the late night on Saturday evening. Which ever way we tried to accomodate each age group the 11 & 12 had to dance last on Saturday as many seniors work at that time.
