i have an XLT 96 , check your spark , too see if one cylinder is being lazy, get it running and pull off spark plug caps ones at a time, if the engine changes then that plug was working , repeat for all 3, or just change plugs.
also the clutches grab a fair bit of belt dust and can "bind" a bit causing bogs
