Further to my post of 12/18/09 on the 1983 Alpine twin-track: Found the flooding problem (eventually) - the E-clip on the jet needle had come loose, was in the wrong place and the needle would not seat. Fixed the smoking problem, but then I was getting a lot of air in the fuel lines to carb when the machine warmed up. Clamped, and then wired, all lines from tank to in-line filter, to primer lines, to fuel pump, to carb. Same air problem. So, ended up taking the in-line fuel filter off and the machine seems to be running much better (no air problem). Does anyone know if these old Alpines are not designed for an in-line filter?
