Subject: Another Back Surgery! Author: Marilyn Lange [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: Friday, Jun 27, 2008 Hello Everyone- Just a note about what has been going on with Arvin's back. He had another surgery (#5 total) on Thursday, June 19 at St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee. The Dr. fused the bottom 2 disks together, putting in some rods, plates and removing the 2 bad disks and putting spacers in. He also cleared out the massive amounts of scar tissue that had attached itself to the S1 nerve that runs down Arvin's left leg. He also removed the Spinal Stimulator that was put in in December of 2007, it wasn't helping! So after all of that and a 5 day stay in the hospital, Arvin is home! He has a lot of pain (naturally) but every day I see that he is getting stronger. He gets in & out of chairs easier and his walks go a little farther every day! The Dr.'s estimate that Arvin will be off of work for 3 months, but this is still to be determined. It all depends on how fast he heals! So for right now he is at home resting, with the assistance of a lot of pain medication! We have a few playing jobs that he will miss (I am keeping everything going) but he hopes to be back playing by mid July or so depending! Good Polka Music is what makes a person heal faster!
