Malaya: ABS-CBN now favors Bea over Kristine
Sept. 22, 2004

WE heard ABS-CBN and Star Cinema have a new fair- haired girl and that is no one else but Bea Alonzo. Everyone praises her for not only being a fine actress at her age (she's only 16) and being so photogenic on screen, but also because she has a very likable attitude in work and in life.

"She's definitely more likable than Kristine Hermosa na maraming kakiyemehan sa buhay at hindi mo maintindihan ang atittude kung minsan," someone informs us, making us remember that even her leading man in "All My Life," Aga Muhlach, was annoyed at the start of the shooting because she doesn't seem to be showing much energy and enthusiasm in making their movie.

Despite Bea's success on TV and the big screen with John Lloyd Cruz (their TV show "It Might Be You" and movie "Now That I Have You" are both big hits), Bea's feet remain firmly on the ground.

"Hindi talaga yumabang o lumaki ang ulo," adds our source.

If you don't know it yet, Bea is a breadwinner in their family. She knows she has a British father, who she never met because she was yet to be born when he left her mom. But she never misses her dad because her stepfather took real good care of her so she now helps her family financially. With her earnings, she has now bought a new Starex van. Next item on her agenda is to buy a house and lot for her family. No wonder she continues to receive a shower of blessings from the Lord for being such a good daughter.

How about her relationship with John Lloyd? Is he finally courting her?

"Not yet," she says. "He knows I can only be courted when I'm 18 at marami pa akong ibang gustong ma-accomplish sa buhay ko for my family. But he's my closest male friend at the moment. Malaki ang utang na loob ko sa kanya dahil nakilala ako ng tao because of our love team. If only for that, I'll never forget him for the rest of my life."
