  Supposedly, John Kernan's "Streamlining" will NOT
  affect the DOC. Some other state employees will
  have something to worry about, though.
  
  Has anyone checked into the Libertarin Kenn Gividen?
  He is from Bartholemew County. It may be scary
  having a Libertarian as governor, but hey, we're

  I am a sgt at Branchville and I would like to know if the other institutions are as hung up on tobacco as much as BCF is? Do the Inmate and Staff smoke? I know the inmates can get tobacco. I would like to know if the Staff Smoke on duty or they have a smoking area where they can go and smoke. Please let me know.

  On the subject of over population, lets turn our focus for a moment to illegal aliens.
  It wouldn't solve the problem, but it might at least make a dent if we would quit being so hospitable. It's bad enough that illegal aliens get free healthcare when we as State employees can't afford healthcare for our own children.
  Illegal aliens can come into this country and break the law against our hard working citizens and the United States feeds and houses them for the duration of their sentence. When ultimately they are deported.
  Why waite, deport them immediately. Save our taxpayers the expense and free up some space in our facilities!

  The Indy Star has an article about JK streamlining State services and by default removing State employees, and on the other hand Mitch wants to privatize us, what to do?
  
  If you vote for either one you may be signing your own pink slip, other considerations for those who remember the only substantial raises we ever got were under a REPUBLICAN governor, the little things we have gotten lately don't even make up for the cost of living.
  
  On the other hand, the present administration could care less about our insurance situation, people who have been trying to retire for years can't because they can't afford insurance.
  
  Damned if you do and damned if you don't.
  
  Even more entertaining is the email Evelyn sent out today, covering their respective A**es, like OOPS I DIDN'T MEAN IT!!!!!
  
  IF they have no better control over their press releases, can they even effectively govern?

  The DOC is so wound up over offender use of tobacco and, supposedly has been since August 1997. However, the policy makers who changed the ADP have effectively, caused the
  tobacco problem to proliferate more by adding the Class C offense 369-C.
  
  At our facility, when the only available offense was the Class B, the problem of offender smoking almost completely stopped after several offenders were charged and appropriate sanctioned were given. It was a wakeup call to the offenders and, it got their attention.
  
  As a result of reinstating the Class C offense, the DOC has in effect, shot itself in the foot. Adding the Class C offense only created more problems for facilities. Offenders know that if they get a Class C, report, sanctions are not going to be nearly as severe as they are for a Class B offense.
  
  If the DOC wants to show that it is tough on the monster that it created, then, it should get tough.
  
  Absolutely, get those that traffic...public and staff, and stop giving the offenders "every break in the world" and do what should have been done all along.
  
  DOC created this monster and should "fix" the problem it created, not add to it.
