Subject: How to hack LFL files
In reply to: GO2one 's message, "How to?" on Thursday, May 12

That sounds like a great idea!
There are some sites that tell you how to hack LFL files, but they are for dedicated hackers only. It's not easy.

Another thing to remember is that ScummVM does not work in the exact same way as DOS. For example, in DOS you can rename the rooms and get weird results, but ScummVM does not seem to allow it.

This page has an introduction to the LFL file format: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tolworthy/zak/c64.htm

This page has more details: http://www.mts.net/~kbagnall/commodore/scumm/scumm%20overview.txt

There are other web sites that get even more complicated. I do a little programming myself, but this is too complicated for me.

Have you thought of creating a mini-Zak game using AGS? it would probably be easier than hacking the LFL files. AGS is free, it's easy to learn, and it was used in the New Adventures of Zak McKracken.

Can I put some of your 16 bit images on this site?
