Star-Studded Extravaganza Popular programs of GMA Network will soon be viewed in the United States through the international channel GMA Pinoy T.V.. Carrying the distinction of being the premier broadcast station for all genres and time blocks in the Philippines, GMA is ready to bring to U.S.-based Filipinos the brand of entertainment that ushered the network to its No. 1 spot in the country. GMA Pinoy T.V. will kick off with a star-studded show aired live via the noontime musical program S.O.P. at former NBA home court with a capacity of 17,000 to 20,000, The Forum in Los Angeles on July 16 and at The Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco on July 23, in the biggest coming-out concert ever to be seen in the West Coast. The 7,000-seater auditorium boasting of state of the art theatrical lighting and concert sound system has hosted guests like Celine Dion, Bette Middler, The Rolling Stones, and Madonna. Come July, our local stars will have the chance to take center stage where these gigantic names have. Leading the pack will be main S.O.P. stars spearheaded by Asia's Songbird, Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid, Janno Gibbs and Jaya. Together with them will be R&B Prince - Jay-R, Dingdong Dantes, Karylle, Malik, KC Montero and Gabby Eigenmann. Other featured artists joining this entertainment powerhouse are the young stars from S.O..P Gigsters: Richard and Raymond Gutierrez, Chynna Ortaleza, Jennylyn Mercado and Mark Herras. The show will have the special participation of Joey de Leon, Kuya Germs, Richard Gomez, and Mel Tiangco. Preceding the launch of GMA Pinoy T.V. in the evening, the Kapuso Network, in partnership with Starmedia Entertainment and other establishments, are conducting a Fiesta GMA on July 23 at noon until 5 p.m. at the same venue. Fiesta GMA will provide the best of what San Francisco is known for: clothing retailing booths, car dealers, importers of Asian products to merchandisers and a cauldron of different ethnic tummy fillers to satisfy the palette. The Fiesta GMA aims to be a family affair as special surprises have been prepared to cater to the young and the young at heart. Cruz BROADCASTING giant GMA 7 is set to bring the cast members of its Sunday variety show "S.O.P." next month to the United States by way of launching Pinoy T.V., its international channel. The show will air live at The Forum in Los Angeles on July 16, and at The Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco on July 23. The Forum is the former home of the Los Angeles Lakers. The cast will be led by Regine Velasquez, Jaya, Janno Gibbs and Ogie Alcasid. "This project is really getting me excited," GMA-7 senior vice president for T.V. entertainment Wilma Galvante told Inquirer Entertainment last week. "[Pinoy T.V.] will feature not only old shows, but also current programs." GMA Pinoy T.V. is seen in Guam and Japan at present, added Galvante. The Forum seats up to 20,000. The 7,000-capacity SF venue is equipped with state-of-the-art theatrical lighting and concert sound system. "The Forum is equivalent to five Araneta Coliseums," Galvante pointed out. Galvante said she flew to Las Vegas two weeks ago to talk with former "S.O.P." co-host Lani Misalucha to join the launch shows. "We're working on her schedule," Galvante said. "She still had a contract with 'S.O.P..'" Prior to the live airing of "S.O.P.," the Kapuso network, in partnership with Starmedia Entertainment, will host "Fiesta GMA" in the venues. Surprise "Fiesta," to be hosted by Lucy Torres-Gomez, will feature surprise performers. The network will also set up booths for food and clothing retailers, car dealers and importers of Asian products. "Last I heard, the rival network is scrambling to put up something in nearby venues there, too," said Galvante. "That makes it even more exciting-just like the Cebu experience."
