I can't think of anything that oozes journalistic integrity more than running to a chat board to shout erroneous information that you "heard from 3 different people."
If you were actually reporting this information you'd have been fired for listing erroneous facts gathered around the local watering hole.
Journalism 101 is a good place to start.
