Vic was one of his best friends. Before him was Dan Blocker and later, Merlin Olsen. There was Johnny Carson and Lorne Greene, too.

Mike had quite a few best friends he worked with on his shows. He was very close to them all, as they were to him. Mike and everyone on the film crew were close, especially Kent and Susan McCray.

MELISSA GILBERT, who was adopted by THE GILBERTS, when she was very young, loved MICHAEL like a father also and they were very close and it showed when ever they had a emotional scene by themselves.

Yes, it's well-known that Michael and Melissa were like father and daughter, just as Michael considered himself as Lorne's son.

I remember reading something you wrote about LORNE being PA until the end, that MICHAEL went to see him in his death bed and tried to shake his hand and LORNE started to hand wrestle like they use to do in BONANZA.

It's on all the website bios of Michael ( page 2 ) that details Lorne's last hours at the hospital with Michael at his bedside in 1987.
