Very good smooth media PR move here. I must admit that much. Topic is an explosive one with RV fans so they'll check the story out and read the articles on it. Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez was greatly amused by the rumor saying she’s all set to leave GMA-7 and move to ABS-CBN. No, she isn’t leaving the TV station she’s associated, she said. She and her management company, Aria Productions, vehemently denied the rumors circulating around, especially talks that she has been sending feelers to ABS–CBN executives saying that her GMA contract has already expired and that her services are already available to them. Laughing, Regine said "Saan naman nanggaling ‘yung tsismis na yan? In the first place, I don’t have any contract with GMA. My only contract with them is the soap opera ‘Forever in My Heart.’ That’s the one that expired because I signed only a one season contract. I’m very happy with GMA. They have been very supportive of me and I’m very grateful with the trust they have given me. I cannot be happier. Our soap opera has just ended its triumphant run, and ‘Pinoy Pop Superstar’ and ‘SOP’ are also doing well. GMA has also been very supportive of my singing career and my other projects as well." Among other things, Regine is currently very busy with preparations for her and Concert Queen Pops Fernandez’s back-to-back concert entitled "Queens....On Fire!" slated on Feb. 11 and 12 at the ULTRA. This is the first time that the two top concert performers of the country will be joining forces and it is a night that is guaranteed to enthrall music fans. Directed by Rowell Santiago with Raul Mitra and Homer Flores as music directors, the concert will also feature "Prince of Pop" Erik Santos as guest performer. Musicians include Ric Mercado on guitar; Sonny Matias on second keyboard; Ferdinand Faustino on drums; Bobby Rasco on bass guitar; and Raul Mitra as first keyboardist. Regine fans should take the moment to read the next post that tries to explained something that I'm probably not suppose to be telling considering my past background working inside some of the corridors of showbiz but I think Regine fans are mature enough to deal with the following showbiz tidbit truths as adults. " -posted in the Manila Bulletin/1-15 The inside word on the story About RV & Chan 2- It turns out that the false rumor about Regine moving to channel 2 was a paid-for media press release that is really part of the Regine-Pops Ultra concerts promo. geez. Well, at least you Regine fans get to see what a real approved media-showbiz promotional article actually looks like. It was sent out by that one writer (big mistake using him, media publicist) to create a wild and untrue Regine buzz while the usual other writers put out the official reactions to it from the artist's camp while inserting the plug for the upcoming concerts the articles are really meant to be posting about. It happens all the time with some of the other music artists. So I hope no one gets bothered by them. The way I easily do.. One of the reasons why you don't see me posting alot of articles on the other music artists. Because of this kind of misleading media practice. That was a false story that started it off. And from who the source was we can say it was all planned that way. I'm going to burst a few bubbles but this is not an unusual showbiz thing. It'll only seem like something new because its being done for Regine and its not something she let so easily happen in the past before. In fact this kind of thing happened so few times in her career that it will be kind of shocking for fans. The media PR for that sexy Regine-Richard Gomez music video for her Greatest Hits album (Viva) was one of the rare times I seen it happened. But it was done in a tasteful way. Even in the tabloids. None of them were printing anything false about their relationship in those articles. Just some playful alluring to it. But pretty harmless.. But the story about Regine transferring to chan 2 was deliberately done just to have a cover story front for the info that promotes her upcoming Feb concerts. As a music fan, I would be feeling pretty insulted. But as a former talent person I have to admit this is what happens alot in showbiz. I just hoped for the longest time it wouldn't be used as the means to promo our real talents like Lea and Regine. And I still think it shouldn't be. Its something that was approved and understood by GMA-7, those writers working with Reg's media publicist, and we can assume also with Regine's official management as well. And maybe not really in agreement about it would be the artist herself. I'm betting she was telling the truth when she said she had no idea where that false story about her trans- ferring to chan 2 was coming from.
