I just posted it right before this one. A new PPS article. An official one that got posted in the official PPS web site on GMA-7 site. Meanwhile those other singing competition shows have articles coming out left and right. Even posting in the tabloids. Geez.. Am I the only one who noticing this?! Because it isn't just the show that is getting somewhat snobbed and ignored. Its us too. We the fans. And some of you intend to give the show a try as well. Anyone here connected with GMA-7 or knows someone who is? Anyone want to come forward and chat about what we can do to get some attention and the kind of information many are looking for? It may be time to make ourselves known out there to those in charge. We want some satisfaction! eh? hehe.. This ain't just a small fan group of the show. This is also a Regine fans group. ( RV fans are known for making alot of noise. hehe.) Anyone on this group want to help out somehow someway and try to make things happen for everyone. The grand final showdown will be held on May 6 at the Araneta Coliseum where the seven contenders will battle it out and one will emerge as the Pinoy Pop Superstar. The seven grand finalists are Harry Santos (Quezon City), Gerald Santos (Navotas), Aicelle Santos (Manila), Irra Cenina (Pasig City), Denver Regencia (Davao City), Elise Estrada (Canada) and Rosemarie Tan (US) who all have the chance to become the newest singing sensation of GMA-7. The grand champion will get a one-year management contract from GMA- 7 and recording contract from GMA Records. Gerald Santos, the contender from Navotas City, hopes he could provide a comfortable life to his family. That motivated him to join the singing contest hosted by Regine Velasquez. He’s turning 16 on May 15 and it would be an early birthday gift if Gerald emerges as the newest Pinoy Pop Superstar. “I really want to win for my family,“ says the teenager whose father works at the Navotas fish port where his mother is also employed as a cashier. Would you believe that Gerald has stopped eating fish for the time being? “It affects the quality of my voice that’s why I had to stop eating fish for a while. I have to take care of my voice, especially since the finals of the contest is fast approaching,” he reveals. Gerald was only seven years old when he got interested in singing. The Voltes 5 theme song was the first song he had ever learned and the one he’d always sing in school. Then he learned to sing songs popularized by April Boy Regino. He dreams of becoming a professional singer someday, like his idol Ogie Alcasid. Gerald knows that to win in Pinoy Pop Superstar would move him a step closer to his dream. The affair was shown on Sunday night. The opening was a stunning production number with several dancers in colorful Muslim costumes and with host Regine Velasquez appearing from above on a harness while singing "I Believe I Can Fly." With her were the seven contenders of PPS 1 led by winner Jonalyn Viray and the seven finalists of PPS 2. The first round saw the seven newcomers dishing out their favorite numbers. The two top crowd favorites were Gerald Santos, who sang "Kahit Isang Saglit" and Aicelle Santos, who sang her favorite Whitney Houston number, "All the Man That I Need." They would later win two special awards worth P20,000 each. Aicelle won as Roadshow Superstar for her winning performances in Cebu, Baguio, Iloilo, Davao and in Manila, while Gerald won as Viewers' Favorite through text votes. In the second round, the three Santoses among the contestants were retained: Aicelle, Gerald and Harry, plus Denver Regencia of Davao. But in the end, it's the pint-sized 14-year-old Gerald who won as grand champion. He got one million pesos in cash, a Futura Classic house and lot from Filinvest, a brand new Chevrolet Optra, a one-year management contract with GMA Network, a recording contract with GMA Records, P300,000 worth of services from Vicky Belo, one-year free beauty services and P50,000 cash from Ricky Reyes, P100,000 worth of clothes from Edwin Tan and Pepsi Herrera.
