Regine: Is She or Isn't She?
by Ricardo F. Lo

Is Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez flying somewhere ... no, not for a
concert abroad but ober da bakod from GMA-7 to ABS-CBN?

Like the yarn linking her to Ogie Alcasid, Regine's "transfer" has been the
subject of persistent rumors all of last year and, I'm sure, the coming
months, even if Regine and her management company, Aria Productions, have
been vehemently denying it.

Could it be true that Regine has been sending "feelers" to ABS-CBN now that
her contract with GMA-7 has reportedly expired?

The Funfare DPA quoted Regine as saying, "Ha, ha, ha! Saan naman nanggaling
yung tsismis na 'yan? I don't have any contract with GMA-7, except for the
soap Forever in My Heart. That's the one that expired because I signed only
for one season. I'm very happy with GMA-7. They have been very supportive
of me and I'm very grateful for the trust they have given me. I cannot be
happier. Forever... has just ended its triumphant run, and Pinoy Pop
Superstar and S.O.P. are also doing well. GMA-7 has also been very
supportive of my singing career and my other projects as well."

At the moment, Regine is busy with her back-to-back concert with another
diva, Concert Queen Pops Fernandez. Titled Queens... on Fire, it is slated
on Feb. 11 and 12 at the ULTRA. It is the first time that the two
performers will join forces, a night guaranteed to enthrall music fans.

Directed by Rowell Santiago with Raul Mitra and Homer Flores as musical
directors, the concert also features Prince of Pop Erik Santos as guest.
Musicians include Ric Mercado on guitar, Sonny Matias on second keyboard,
Ferdinand Faustino on drums, Bobby Rasco on bass guitar and Raul Mitra as
first keyboard. Presented by Smart in cooperation with Manila Bulletin,
Queens is produced by Star Media in cooperation with GMA-7. Tickets are
available at Ticketworld (tel. 8915610) and at Star Media (8543300 or
8543322).
