Movie from CloseUp,
big help for local film industry

++++++++++++++++++++++++++
NOTE: Because I'm now on the topic about our local movie industry
and what's been wrong with it the last few years.. here is an
article about something that seems to be working for the business.
It could be because it wasn't just one movie company that was
involve in the movie but also a new producer player found with
the Close Up company. -mmJun :-)
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Close to You," the movie that's still packing them in with SRO
crowds across the country, is the shot in the arm local filmland
needs. The movie is expected to rake in more than P100 million in
boxoffice receipts.

Not only is it sending Sam Milby's career into orbit (take note, he
had his start as a CloseUp face and was the star of the "Just a
Smile" music video with Barbie Almabis), it's also helping the
hundreds of people behind the scenes - the gaffers, camera crews,
make-up artists, production and set designers who have been having a
tough time since local movie production has been hit by hard times
and piracy in the last five years.

We're so happy that corporations like Unilever have the imagination
and the attitude to back up our country's very own Filipino talent
with a project that's the first of its kind. CloseUp has proven that
with the right vision, things can happen!

For CloseUp, the project was all about making dreams come true and
they've made it not just for its promo winners who got walk-on parts
on the movie, but also for the hundreds of working cinema men and
women.

The alliance between Star Cinema and CloseUp appears to be a
marriage made in heaven - and we just hope that CloseUp keeps
thinking up new activities that bring dreams to life. Sana mag-
produce pa sila ng maraming pelikula!

Anyone wondering whatever happened to the Darna movie
project Regine was really interested in doing?

:-?
