In a press statement, lawyer Claire Espina said the reason for this latest postponement was that "the independent specimen results requested by defense have not been received." The preliminary hearing, originally set for May 26, had originally been reset to June 27 (June 28, in Manila). Nora pleaded not guilty to the said charge before the Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Paula Adele Mabrey on April 21 at the LA Airport courthouse. During the arraignment, Mabrey granted three motions: for evidence split; for the waiver of appearance by the defendant, except for trial and other evidentiary hearings; and for a Tagalog interpreter to be present at all hearings.
