Hi, Kevin.

Do you want to display the external html file in the same screen of the current html? There is a demostration at:

http://home4u.hongkong.com/entertainment/music/mpx/js/httpget/import1.htm

and it is available for download at:

http://home4u.hongkong.com/entertainment/music/mpx/js/httpget/import.zip

It demonstrates how to get an external file by Java applet and pass the file content to JavaScript.

DHTML can alter the content of the current page, but not getting the whole file's content. For details, please read:

http://www.irt.org/articles/js106/index.htm

Netscape Navigator supports a "include-source" CSS attribute that can import the whole file, but it is not supported by MSIE nor introduced by the W3C:

http://developer.netscape.com/docs/manuals/communicator/dynhtml/layers32.htm#1039210

Also, server-side operation, such as CGI, can combine 2 files and display the result to client-side.

Hope this help.

Thank you for your visit.
