I have to spread the great news I received this evening. For those of you who know the Colburns, Steve Colburn was diagnosed with Melanoma Cancer a couple of weeks ago. He had surgery to remove a lump from his lymph nodes and the doctors discovered the cancer during the surgery. The doctors were conerned that the cancer may have spread into other organs and tissues as Melanoma is an extremely aggressive form of cancer. Several members of the In The Dirt family gathered together last night to pray and lay hands on Steve just as others have been praying on their own. It was a very emotional but encouraging time of worship and prayer. Ok, to the great news. Steve called us this evening and said that the Cat Scan results came back negative and it appears that the cancer has not spread! Although he will still have to under go a year of treatment for the cancer that was removed, the doctors are optimistic that he will be cancer free. This is an awesome answer to prayer and a testimony to the power of prayer and the body of Christ. I'm sure I speak for the entire group that we give the glory to God and thanks for the prayers that he has answered so quickly and favorably. Thanks also to Jim McNeff who organized last nights prayer session and continues to be a servant of our Lord Jesus Christ in bringing us all together in this family we call In The Dirt. God Bless.

What a great trip to start out the 4th season! Cari and I had to buzz out early on Sunday AM, we hope we didnt wake too many people. Thanks to the Murrays and O'Connells for hosting this months trip. Next month we will be heading up to a group favorite, Matts Place (AKA Randsburg or Red Mountain). John Rienga will be trailboss with Ed Arnitz. I heard some talk about a bingo ride (sorta like a poker run I guess??)
I love it when Jim says that "These are the good ole days". Its so true, the memories we are making with our kids right now are the ones that will last a lifetime and pass on to there kids. Aside from the "memories" that were shared around the campfire, are there any "stories" that are worth sharing here?
Karin, can you update us all with the number of families, trailers and or riders that were gathered with us this weekend?
Here is my story.
We had a great ride on Saturday afternoon. A new guy, one of the Colburns friends, Scott Duncan, Dana Burkhart and Dave Kerly and I went on a technical 20 miler that took us about an hour and a half. We hit some knarly hills, fast sandwashes and we kept up a great pace. It was a fun ride and with only 5 people, we really poured it on at times.
I missed the 45 person parade to the Buttes. Thats alot of people, probably our largest thus far.
See yall nezxt month.

The new ride schedule is posted on the website. Use the inthedirt.org link at the top of this message board to go to the home page, then click on ride schedule.
We have 2 new riding locations on the schedule.
The first is Johnson Dry Lake. This location is in the Johnson Valley. We have ridden there from Cougar Buttes in the past, but never camped there. It is a big dry lake that has some great hills surrounding it.
The second new location is Charlie’s Place, AKA Wagon Wheel off Trona Road in Red Mountain. This location has a mini track in the “back 40” and some fun mountains to explore. Its also close to the pinnacles for a day ride.
Mark your calendars folk, the fun is only 1 month away!

I am selling my 97 RMX 250 (pics below) as I recently had the opportunity to purchase an almost new YZF 250 at a ridiculously low price. I am now stuck with two bikes and really want this yellow bike to go to a good home. It is a terrific bike that has never given me ANY trouble - just hours of fun and entertainment. Lots of power, extremely clean, a few upgrades, NEVER raced, newer chain, brand new ASV unbreakable levers, newer tires, newer graphics and seat, brand new air filter, newer grips, good bars, green stickered through 2007. I would love to get $1200 for it, but will consider going lower for a first time buyer as somebody did for me!

I am posting this for a friend. Billy Frank is a Saddleback member, a champion motorcross racer and was also the best man in my wedding. He's a great friend and has recently helped Cari and I switch frm AAA to Farmers insurance and save some cash. Read on.

Dear Fellow Riders in Christ

My name is Billy Frank, and some of you might remember me from my Moto/Supercross career back in the mid to late 80’s earning the 1985 AMA Rookie of the Year award. I am also the guy behind the company BillyWho, and prior to that helped design and create the Asterisk knee brace. Anyway, I have decided to move by career in a different direction. Almost a year ago I started my own Farmer's Insurance agency and I am looking for some quality people with common interests to grow my book of business. I am asking you for the opportunity to quote you and your family and friends on any of your Car, Home, Renters, Motorcycle, Boat, Business/Workers Comp., and/or Life insurance needs. Farmers Insurance is a multi-line industry leading company with many available discounts, and in 90% of my business so far, I've been able to meet or beat my clients current insurance prices while providing more coverage. I am currently striving for a goal that if I can hit, will enable me to take my agency to the next level. I am requesting your help in obtaining this much needed goal. I only need a few minutes of your time either on the phone or in person to get some quotes ready for you. Let's just see if I can get you better coverage’s while reducing your current rates and then go from there. I can be reached on my cell at 949-302-5551 or you can contact me on my web site at http://www.farmersagent.com/bfrank or my email at bfrank@farmersagent.com
I am available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please contact me anytime. Thanks in advance for your support!

Billy Frank

July 29th is the date for the ITD picnic.
This is our third annual "In Between Riding Seasons Picnic".
At this time, Jim will give an annual "State of the Ministry" speech and we will review the goals and direction of the group. Location and details to be determined. The previous two years have been at the McNeff residence, but it looks as though we may have outgrown the backyard.
Due to Intelligence Reports from my CIA scouts (i.e. mothers with younger children), we will change the venue for our picnic from Altisma Park to Solano Park in Rancho Santa Margarita.  The Special Agent Mother's in the know report the playground equipment is better, right next to the picnic area, and the pool is superior.  (My expertise in on the ball fields.)  Anyway, there you have it.  The address is 21601 Via Regressos, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA 92688.  It is on the corner of Melinda and Via Regressos, just a stones throw from Santa Margarita Parkway.

Now your chance!
As we ponder our upcoming schedule for the 2007-2008 riding season, we need your imput. There are some favorite spots that work really well for this group that we want to return to. We also want to take this year to explore a few new places, not yet visited. Please let your favorites be known! Please respond to these three questions.

1) Your all time favorite riding location.
2) A previous camp location of ITD that you would like to see us return to.
3) A new location that we may not have visited in the past year or so that you think might be a good spot to try out, and why.

I will take all the ideas, along with all the imput from the June 29th Picnic and put together our tentative riding schedule for next season. Even after the schedule is made, it is always flexible! Please give us your favorites!

Cant wait to see everybody on June 29th,

****WE HAVE HAD TO CHANGE RIDE LOCATIONS***
Copper City has restricted areas that will make it difficult to bring a large group to this area and keep everyone out of trouble.  So, our Trailboss, Robert Murray will be leading us back to Matt's Place.  It is a good location for a last minute switch since it is well known by so many in the group.  If you have never been there, directions are on the homepage.  There are some very cool ride locations off Trona road too that have been somewhat unexplored in previous rides.  Be prepared to have a great time because In the Dirt is awesome wherever we land!
Thanks for your flexibility. Jim McNeff

We have one more ride left in our official ride schedule. Robert Murray will be leading the group to Copper City, just north of Victorville off the 15 freeway. Due to high winds in the desert, Hwy 395 has been closed from Adelanto to the Kern County line. Currently we have 2 people at camp and 3 people waiting in Victorville. We believe the winds will die down and we will be able to drive to camp this afternoon. Please check the road conditions via the link above before heading out.

A possible alternate route might be the 15 fwy to Barstow. Take the 58 fwy west to Kraemer Junction and then a right on 395 (if they will allow it).

Call Scott's cell phone (949) 689-5078 for up to date information.

Just wanted to say hello to Robert and Karin. They took the ATV Safety course with me yesterday in Irvine. I wrote up an article about it at Under My Helmet and wanted to share it with you. (Feel free to comment and let me know you stopped by!)

I also want to suggest to anyone else that hasn't taken this course to take it. I'm a long time rider and I thought it was a great course and learned from it.

Send your photos to scottb@saddleback.com to be included on the website photo gallery. Please dont send me ALL your photos. Your favorite 5 or 10 will do, unless of course your name is Wendy Northrup, offial ITD camp photogrpaher! Unfortunatly the Northrup family had to leave a bit early and may not have gotten all the photos that they usually do, so if you have some to share, email them right away!

See you all in Cal City the week after easter!

DETAILED directions for anybody going out before we are.

We plan on arriving and having the road marked in no later then 9pm on Thursday night.

If you arrive before then follow these directions and it will get you there.

Go to Kramer Junction off the 395 and proceed for 13 miles.
You will turn right at the HOLE in the fence WITH THE ITD markings. If there are no ITD markings, you will see a fence post with DOZENS of paper plates and other things stapled to it from other camp trips other groups. Its on the LEFT side of the enterance.
go 3.8 miles on this dirt road and vear LEFT at the Y in the road.
go 4.5 miles and you will come to a 5 way intersection with a rusted out partial car upside down, or at least part of it is still there). Turn RIGHT and go 1 mile aon the best dirt road you have ever driven on.
The dry lake is on the right. Camp right off the road, but not on the dry lake. Camp NEAREST to the 5 way intersection up against the small hillside area.

For those that are concerned about the dirt road, dont be. Its longer then we usually have and sometimes a bit bumpy, but we (Cari adn I) have camped here 4 times with large groups. Its a great riding location!

See you all there!

I know this might be far BUT if you let us know ahead of time we can get you all the firewood you need. Of course if we go we would be glad to bring some. We are not able to make it this month but let me know if you'd like to come pick up some firewood we have at least 2 boxes right now. caridugas@aol.com 562-529-5069 (ask for Adrian)

We are selling our 2006 19 ft Attitude toy hauler. We have had it a little over a year, I added a 1200 watt inverter and a second battery and upgraded the queen bed . I also purchased the "add a room" that adds another 7 feet of usable space. Key features are below. This floor plan has the very large kitchen and I think the best dinette layout in the industry. It sleeps 6. It only weighs 4700 pounds (empty), so you can pull it with almost anything. We are asking $15,000 OBO. I would even be open to letting someone borrow it for the Feb ITD ride if you are a serious buyer. I will post pictures in the next day or two. Please give me a call if you have any questions or any interest. Thank you,

Hello all you ITD people. Hope everything is well. Just wanted to let everyone know that we are planning an unofficial ITD ride the second weekend of December. That's Dec. 9th and 10th. But we will be leaving Friday mid morning on the 8th. The ride will be back at Cougar Buttes where our October ride was. I am hoping to get the same camp. So far we have a few families interested. We found that for what ever reason several people including us arn't able to make this next ride so we figured what the heck how about a second one.

Any Takers. Please respond.

Hello In The Dirt fans! Team Murray is looking forward to hosting Ocotillo Wells the first week of December. We should be arriving early Friday morning at our usual spot at Benson Lake Loop, by the Airport. I am planning to schedule a couple rides: "the gas domes" and the favorite "pumpkin patch". I also hope to schedule a scavenger hunt.

I am looking forward to hearing what God has laid upon Jims heart for us all. Keep him in prayer. Pray also for Brocks foot to heal. Pray for rain too! (that would be nice)

Until then, have a wonderful Turkey Day!!

I anxiously await some reports from our first ride of the season! How was it? I was with you all in spirit. I borrowed a pastors motobike here in Rwanda and took it for a ride this last week. It was a late 80's model red yamaha 125 enduro style bike. Couldnt seem to get the front tire off the ground. Hmmmmmm. I think it topped off at about 35 mph. I asked him, through the translator, if he ever rode a wheelie on it...that didnt translate well...I think he was asked through the translator if he had ever ran over his donkey??? He just looked at me funny. The translator had no idea was I was trying to ask.

See you all at Matts place next month.
