OCTOBER RIDE LOCATION CHANGED
NEW location: Cougar Buttes - Johnson Valley
Old Location: Means Dry lake

Due to some less then optimal riding conditions at Means Dry lake, we have changed the location to Cougar Buttes, 15 minutes less driving.

Thanks to Bill Reimer for scouting the October Ride location. We may try there again on another date, but for this ride, it has been discussed that Cougar Buttes will offer better riding options for our group.

Trail Boss will be Team Murray. Please check out the JPG map for directions and Google Earth or Google Maps for a satellite image of the area. If you have a GPS, bring it. Questions about the ride can be directed to Robert Murray at robert.s.murray@citigroup.com

We cant wait to see you all there!

Use the link below to view satelite images of this ride location. You must FIRST make sure you have Google Earth installed.

Take the 15 freeway to Bear Vally Road. Go East. Turn right at the dead end onto Highway 18. This will turn into the 247, also known as Old Woman Springs Road. Go past the small town of Lucern for about 24 miles.
19.2 miles past Camp Rock Road. (Cougar Buttes)

Turn left off the 247 at Boone Rd. The dry lake bed is 3.7 Miles off the 247.

Memorial Day Ride – We have 3-5 families that are planning a ride Memorial day weekend out to Johnson Valley. Anyone interested please contact us.

For Sale – We are selling our 2006 19 ft Attitude. It is in great shape and has all the extras. You can tow it with almost any SUV or Truck. We are selling it to get a motor home. Any one selling a motor home please let us know.

We also have a 2005 Yamaha Raptor 50 quad and a 2005 Boss 50 mini quad. The Raptor is fully automatic, electric start and has the throttle control for new riders. The Raptor is also larger then any other 50 on the market, which makes it great for older kids (6-10) learning to ride. The Boss is also fully automatic with an electric start and throttle control. This is the smallest 50 on the market and is great for small children 3-6. Both run great, we are selling because both of our daughters are going to motorcycles.

Hello eveyone,

I will leaving for Stoddard Valley by 9 am Friday, so I expect to get there by 11:30am. According to Yahoo Weather, the Victorville area may see some slight showers Saturday morning and then cloudy ther rest of the weekend. Matt Ross and I were up at this site just two weeks ago during the last rain storm. While it was raining here, it was nice up there. The recent rains kept the dust down to nothing, and it was a good day to ride. I expect this weekend to be jsut the same.

Karin will be coming up Saturday with Christopher. They will be bringing a cake from Costco for the desert, so if you do not have a desert.....not to worry. There will most likely be enough.

Drive carefully, adn we'll see you up there!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello everypne,

Just thought we would give another update on Christopher. He is doing better eveyday. His attitude has been fantastic. I have been very proud of him considering he is i a wheelchair. He can also get around using a walker, but he can not do this for extended time. He started back to school today. Karin went with him half of the day, however ended up leaving after lunch becasue he was doing so well in class and getting around.

Thank you all for your calls and prayer. It will still be a long road for him, but he will make a great recovery. He has said that he can't wait to get back on the bike. The doctor said that he can nto ride for a year. I tend to agree withe the doctor. I would not want to take the chance of re-injuring his leg.

Karin and I are still planning on Trailbossing the April ride. I hope to have a map to Scott by next week, so keep watching.

The following is from M.O.M.S (Mothers of Moto Sports)...

It's time to let your voices be heard!

Please join us at 4080 Lemon Street, Riverside, CA, March 28th 10:30 a.m., at which time we will join the discussion with the Board of Supervisors and try to preserve our private property rights in this county.

You are in danger of losing your right and your children's right to operate OHV's on private property. This may be the last chance you have to help direct your future property rights. As a property owner, or a guest of a property owner your ability to operate any OHV in a reasonable manner may be finished!

The Off-Road Business Association (ORBA), The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA), EcoLogic, The Blue Ribbon Coalition (BRC), Jeremy McGrath and his legal team, myself and many other concerned citizens have struggled for the past 18 months to work towards developing a responsible OHV ordinance while working closely with the Riverside County Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors. An ordinance that is fair to both OHV users and non-users. At our last meeting, however, Supervisors tossed out our work and Supervisor Bob Buster stated that OHV activity is just NOT COMPATIBLE with the rural life style and may have NO place in rural Riverside County. There was discussion of HEAVY FEES and requiring PERMITS to operate OHV's on private property. That's right, 50's to 450's! CONDITIONAL USE PERMITS may be required, which would virtually eliminate OHV use because of the expense associated with obtaining these permits. They say the HEAVY FEES would be used to offset the costs of new equipment and code enforcement officers to aggressively respond to OHV complaints on private property. We suggest that the County ENFORCE THE CURRENT LAWS, such as trespassing, fugitive dust, and nuisance noise, and not unreasonably restrict OHV use. So, Moms, Dads, Grandpa's and Grandma's please come and bring the kids dressed in their gear. Speak out, let the kids speak out. This day could be an excellent civics lesson.

Some property owners / residents of Riverside County, such as MX champions Jeremy McGrath and Rick Johnson, as well as other professional racers Nathan Ramsey, Ryan Hughes and Ryan Villapoto will be signing autographs from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with Supervisors meeting to follow.

DON'T THINK SOMEONE ELSE WILL HANDLE THIS, WE NEED YOU NOW!!

We have an awesome loving God. I am so very thankful to so many this weekend as I saw Gods love in everyone. I can not thank you ALL enough.

First off, Christopher snapped his Lt. Femur when he and his bike slid on a flat, hard road. I was riding behind him and watched as a simple fall went wrong. I believe that the slide (with his bike) caused his boot to twist, thus causing the break. He was flown to Loma Linda where he underwent surgery to straighten his leg with two long screws. It was tough for him, but he pulled through like a trooper! After he was told that all his riding gear was "cut" off his body, he told me he wants a new set of Green Thor gear again. Karin joined me and he came out of surgery fine. So far we have been told he may have to stay in the hospital for 2 days or so. But he should recover 100%. God is truly amazing.

That brings me to part two of my message. I saw so much of what our ministry is about. And I truly believe you would have performed these acts of love and kindness for anyone. Jim was a rock for me, and in his soothing voice for Christopher while waiting for the ambulance. John and Katie were true blessings in their abilities as former EMTs. Stefan, thank you for all you've done for me. I truly consider you a God-send to our ministry. God is at work in you. Dan, Ken, Mike, James, Scott, Steve for taking care of my rig. Scott for keeping a cool head and knowing exactly what to do. The whole weekend was great! Steve and Joni, thank you for taking care of Shannon.

Thank you, Thank you, and Thank you to everyone. Even the stranger that stayed and gave Chris his jacket as a pillow. Who was that angel?

God Bless, and Love from Robert, Karin, Shannon and CHRISTOPHER!!

Hey gang...
Im here. its 12:30pm on Friday. High speed wireless internet in the middle of the desert, aint technology great!
We are camped 3 miles down 20 Mule team Road. 18.2 miles from Kramer Junction. We have marked the 395 from both directions. The first 1 mile of road is dirt but quite smooth. The last TWO miles are pavement, but be careful because some of the pot holes are covered with small puddles. Avoid the puddles. At about the 3 mile mark, make a right turn (its also marked) and go 1/2 mile. We are on the left side of the road, you cant miss the signs. I have a yellow flashing beacon on the roof of our borrowed motorhome.

Its been drizzeling off and on all morning. My most recent check of the forcast for Red Mountain shows clear skies for sat and sun. The ground will be wet, but currently there are only a few small puddles.

Have a safe drive out!

Hey campers!
Due to the rains this week (past and future), we are making a SLIGHT change to the weekend ride location. Instead of Fremont Peak, we will be heading to a location just over 3 miles FURTHER down the 395. Instead of making a RIGHT turn off the 395 onto Fremont turnoff, we will be making a LEFT turn on 20 Mule Team Parkway. This road goes all the way through to the Cal-City / Dove Springs area. We will be camped approximately 4 miles down this road from the 395. The first mile is a dirt road, the last three miles are paved. Watch out for large potholes on the paved section. Keep an eye out for the ITDM signs.

For those that have an OLD map, I will have NEW directions posted at the Fremont turn off. The 20 Mule Team Turn off is 18.1 miles past Kramer Junction.

See you this weekend.

Keep an eye on this message board for upcoming location changes for this weekends ride.

IF it continues to rain throughout the week in the high desert, then we will not be camping at the dry lake 30 minutes off the 395 (Fremont Peak)...because it likely WONT be dry. Instead we will find a spot closer to the road, off the same 395 turnoff.

It is currently NOT forcasted to rain over this coming weekend, which means the riding should be PREMIUM!

Hey gang,
This next months ride will be at Fremont Peak. Its a fun place that Im sure you will enjoy. Last year we had a great turnout at this location and the riding area allows for everybodies skill level. We will be camping on a dry lake 1 mile way from the spot we camped at last year.
The drive off the 395 to the camp spot will take you at least 30 minutes, but is well worth it. The first 5 miles are easy dirt road. At mile 5 on the dirt road, you will hit 1 mile of rough and slow road. Once your through that its easy sailing. The road will be WELL marked from the 395.
Friday night, tempurature willing, we will be showing a movie on the bigscreen as soon as the sun goes down, along with a bonfire big enough to guide in our late arriving friends. If your arriving late, look for the BRIGHT flashing yellow beacon.
I have three rides planned for Saturday. The first to the very popular HUSKY momument. This ride will be just under 9 miles from camp and will be easy enough for all riders to come along (dirt road). The HUSKY is a 1978 Husquavarna motorcycle buried in cement up to its axles. It has stood in the middle of the desert for over 15 years as a momument to fallen desert riders. Its a great picture spot. The second ride we am planning will be for intermediate riders, not for its difficulty, but for the distance. We will be traveling another 8 miles past the husky to the "Petroglyphs". This ancient canyon has hundreds of indian rock drawings carved into the caynon walls. Very interesteding to walk through. Round trip on this ride is 32 miles. The third ride I have planned for late saturday afternoon will take us AROUND Fremont peak. This ride takes in some fantastic single track trails and will challenge the intermediate rider with some great uphill climbs. Nothing too serious. Im sure we will have some other rides led by other people throughout the weekend. All the "planned rides" will be posted on the dry erase board next to our motorhome.
Saturday night we will enjoy some fun fellowship and bible study followed by our typical coffee and desert potluck. This months theme for desert is "St.Pattys Day Green".
Sunday morning we will have a "Match Ride". This is where you are given directions to an easy to reach location, where you will have to pick something up and return to camp. The round trip will be approximatly 5-7 miles. You will be timed individually on your round trip. You can ride slow or as fast as you want. You can start the match ride at anytime between 9 and 10 am on Sunday from my trailer. When everybody has returned and individual times have been recorded, you get to go a second time. The object is to "Match" your time on the first ride as close as possible. Timekeeping equipment is allowed on the first trip, but forbidden on the second trip. The person closest to there original trip time will win a $20 gift certificate to purchase "In The Dirt Ministry" apperal from the In the Dirt Minsitry online store. Anybody can win this "Match Ride".

Hope to see you @ Fremont!

PS. If you have a GPS, bring it. We will have two SECRET prizes hidden in the desert. GPS cordinates will be posted @ 8:00 am on Saturday morning.

Jim and Scott

If we have to move the next ride what about Gorman/Hungry Valley? We have invited a couple of families that are interested in coming but may only be able to come out for the day. Since El Mirage is so close it would work out great. Hungry Valley is about the same distance and the drive is not bad if made before 2 pm on a Friday or Saturday morning. We also have to be back in OC by 11 am Sunday so a local ride would directly benefit us as well. I had mentioned Gorman to Stephan in the past and he said he new the place like the back of his hand and new some great trails there. It also has a MX track for kids (100cc's or under, I think) as well as one for the big boys.

On another note we are planning on going riding for a couple of days between the 18th and 22nd since the kids are out of school and I think Monday is a holiday. We were thinking about Gorman or El Mirage. If anyone is interested please email me at Steve@eaglecapitalinc.com

Anyways, that's my two cents.

Thank you,

Hey Guys hows everthing? I realize that you need directions to Dove Springs for the Febuary ride. Someone has already posted directions probably Scott. I want to give the directions one more time. Go North on the 395 to the 58 (at Kramer junction) go towards Mojave until you hit the 14 go north stay on the 14 for approx. 24-25 miles look for Dove Springs OHV turn left onto a dirt road stay on this road and follow ITDM SIGNS we will be camped about 2 miles in right of the road. If for some reason we cant get a big enough spot 2 miles in just follow the ITDM SIGNS until you find us. Dont worry we will be clearly marked.

We plan to have lots of fun for everybody. If you have never been here you dont want to miss this trip. My family and Mikes family will be there on Thursday. We will be maping out a ride for Sat. to Burro Schmits Tunnel. I also have plans to take some intermidate riders on a good ride.
This place hase lots of fun stuff for beginner to advanced.

There will be a Bible Study after dinner between 7-7:30. Keeping with tradition we would like everyone to join in the pot-luck dessert.

My tel# 310 628-3811 please call me if you need anything.

take care

Hey everybody, we are going to miss this months ride. We sold our trailer and have ordered a new one that we hope will arrive by the March ride...since we are hosting it (El Mirage). We appreciate the invitations to "slumber party" with some of you...but we have had slumber parties in our trailer and with toddlers....is not a good recipe for a restful fun weekend......instead we are going to hit the snow for Feb. We will miss you all. Have a great time!

Greetings Fellow RIDERS!

NEXT weekend is our 4th ride of the year and the first ride for the new year (2006) and we are very much looking forward to seeing you all at Matt’s Place.

Directions to Matt’s Place are as follows:
From the 91/15 Fwy interchange take the 15 Fwy North to Barstow 43 miles to the US-395. Take the 395 exit and drive north for 42 miles to Kramer Junction, (this is a great place for a potty break and to fuel/ice up). Continue north on the 395 for approximately 35 miles, this will take you past Red Mountain and Ransburg, you will pass Garlock road to the left and continue up a small grade with a curve to the left at the top of the hill. Just after the cow sign will be the dirt road on the right (we will have a ITDM sign at the entrance of the dirt road). Take the dirt road east for approximately 7/10ths of a mile and we will be camping to the right. The total mileage from the 15/91 interchange to Matt’s place is about 122 miles and should take about 2 ½ hours. If you come after dark on Friday night, look for a strobe light on top of my trailer.

John and Matt Reininga went up last weekend to setup and marked a course for a poker run that we are going to have on Saturday. A poker run is a fun game that you can ride at your own pace and arrive at check points to receive a playing card and directions to the next location. The group or family with the best hand wins. This will allow everyone to experience all the area has to see and participate in a fun game at the same time.

We will have a few ORGANIZED trail rides to the pinnacles and to Ransburg for root beer floats on Saturday and/or Sunday led by experts who know the area.

Last but not least is our POTLUCK DESSERT. Bring your favorite plate of brownies, cookies, pie or whatever. We will have coffee, hot coco and yummy desert following our bible study on Saturday night. There will be a table to bring the yummy stuff out to after dinner.

John and I are looking forward to seeing all you at Matt’s place, we plan to have a great weekend

Wish you all a Happy and Safe NEW YEAR!!!!!!

God Bless

In The Dirt Ministry - Ride #2
Soggy Dry Lake

November 4th - 6th
www.inthedirtministry.com

Grettings Fellow RIDERS!

NEXT weeeknd (not this weekend) is our second ride of the year and we are very much looking forward to seeing you all at Soggy Dry Lake in Lucerne Valley. map -> http://www.inthedirtministry.com/SoggydrylakeITDM.jpg

We will be camped HALF way down the Dry lake on the left hand side. As your coming to Soggy Dry lake off Bessimer Mine road, your going to make a left off the road ONTO the dry lake. If you come at night, dont make the mistake of turning left TOO soon, wait until your halfway across the dry lake, before turning onto it, or you will have to zig and zag through all the scrub brushes. There will be a sign off the road, telling you when to turn. Turn left ONTO the dry lake and then go about 1/2 mile onto the lake. We will be on the FAR left side in a cutout section biggenough to hold 100+ trailers. We will be camped near the base of a sand slide hill that is very hard to miss. If you come after dark on Friday night, look for a stobe light or a mini disco ball on top of my trailer.

We have lots of fun games planned on Saturday. We will be keeping points and tallying them up with the winners announced at the Saturday night campfire bible study. If you come out Saturday Morning, get there by 9am. Our games and competitions will start at 10am. You will need to sign up in order to participate. We will break for lunch for an hour at noon and have a few more games from 1-3pm.

We will have a few ORGANIZED trail rides led by wanna be experts who know the area at 4pm on Saturday.

Last but not least is our POTLUCK DESSERT. Bring your favorite plate of brownies, cookies, pie or whatever. We will have coffee, hot coco and yummy desert following our bible study on Saturday night. There will be a table to bring the yummy stuff out to after dinner. Dont forget this part (its my favorite part of the weekend)

I cant wait to see everybody. This new location offers alot of fun terrain to ride in. I know we are going to have tons of fun.

See you in the DEZ!

Scott Burnett will be the TrailBoss for Nov, so I am sure he will have many FUN things for us to do during the day! My family and I will be heading out either early Friday morning or late Thursday morning. So we will have a good spot saved for us all.

The stream crossing were big and some were small the trails were wet and dry at the lower areas. Take advantage of the riding its wonderful. Have fun and enjoy.

Reminder

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Talked to Ranger Bob today, he said that the Plateau is opening OHV trails starting next weekend !
FINALLY !, Yahoooooo
said most of the lower trails on the east side we patrolled two weeks ago would be open but most on the west still have the huge snow drifts blocking them.
we will be patrolling the remaining snow blocked trails the weekend of the 25th for downed trees and snow blocks....

PLEASE OBEY THE CLOSURESand if you can encourage others to do so.....
everyone has been obeying VERY well so far....

( the California Center for Collaborative Policy, CCCP.....aka sierra club will be watching)

remember The Kern plateau is RED STICKER legal all year long.....SPARK ARRESTORS REQUIRED

: please run a quiet pipe....EXPECT MANY SOUND CHECKS this year , and you will be shut down if over the limit

PLEASE DON'T PULL NO MORE "FAST EDDIE" rebel runs, the CCCP ( California Center for Callaborative Policy) is watching very closely this year and is just drooling at a chance to grab this OHV area away from us !

My name is Kristy Marcotte and my twin daughters: Brittany and Bryanna race motocross! They raced last summer at Perris raceway and plan to race this summer at Starwest. They are 12 and have been riding for 2 yrs. this coming September. They started out on Lem 50's and are now on Suzuki 85's. My husband has been taking them to the Elisonore track almost every weekend to practice. We did take a break for about 4 months from racing because he became a new Sergeant at Orange PD and was on a graveyard w/week days off shift. (Jim - maybe you can relate. You work for Fountain Valley, right?) Anyway, Now they are starting to go every weekend again and I think we need to find someone to train them other than their dad. They've got that "father-daughter" thing getting in the way. Does anyone do training or could anyone give me advice on what to do? We would like to look into paying someone to train them for track racing on the weekends.

On another note, We've been Saddleback church members since 1992 and I have worked with the High School Ministry and have spoken with Jamie McNeff a few times. She actually helped me out with the "True Love Waits" ceremony we did for the high school girls several years ago. Jamie, you might remember me?

Anyway, I am thrilled about this ministry. and want to know how to sign up so we can participate in any upcoming events.

Hey everybody! Is your bike feeling worn? Do you "bottom-out" on jumps? Do your forks leak causing the bike not to respond well on turns?

Well then maybe you need some professional work done on your bike. I recently met a Christian brother who owns and operates a shop here in Laguna Hills. Ken Leybourne of "Factory Research and Development" (www.factoryrandd.com). Ken recently tuned my suspension to fit my weight and riding style/ability. This included new fork springs/valves and oil, and a new rear spring, Top Triple Clamp, handle-bars and other minor mods (graphics just for fun!).

This suspension work really made the bike ride like new! It handled much better than before. And landing jumps didn't even come close to hitting bottom! I highly recommend it!

Ken is an "expert" class track rider himself. Hopefully next season we can get him to join us on a weekend ride. Check out his company web site: www.factoryrandd.com

When you contact him, just mention "In The Dirt Ministry" and Ken will take care you!

God Bless. See you all soon!

I just want to thank everyone who helped take care of my husband, Matt (and children) this weekend after Matt's accident. Although I realize every time him and the kids walk out the door to go ride and have fun, there are risks and I worry, but since we can't live in a bubble, they go.

It gave me great comfort knowing he was in the caring and capable hands of his fellow riders of the In the Dirt Ministry and more specifically the care and attention by Jim. In addition to keeping a close eye on Matt, I appreciate everyone who helped load our truck and get Matt and the kids safely back to the road so I could get them home.

Matt suffered a concussion and still has no recollection of the accident, but bits of the ride are coming back to him. He seems to be doing fine and the doctor says he should make a full recovery. Brianna is doing fine from her spill, but still sore and achey. Her doctor said she will also make a full recovery in no time.

I would also like to add that I will only support my family's participation in these rides when Robert and his family plan to attend. Having accidents is normally the job of Robert and I think Matt just felt he needed to fill Robert's shoes in his abscence! Ha.

Once again, thank you so much for everything. See you all on the next ride.

We have heard about your group through Ken and Paige but have not made it to a ride as of yet. After talking to Jim he suggested we post a message on the board regarding this weekend. We are planning to go out Saturday morning Feb. 19 but have not decided where to go. Just wondering if anyone else with kids is going riding this weekend and would like to hook up. We live in Foothill Ranch. Please give us a call if you have any suggestions or are planning to go yourselves. Thanks

March Club Ride info!!
The map and directions are posted on teh web site. I will be going out to mark the way in on Friday morning. If you come at night look for the markers witht ehr eflective tape on them. We are 6 miles in from the Hyw. The road is dirt and it will take up to 30 minutes or ore to get to the spot. Its a hard drive, so be patient. The spot and riding are well worth the drive in. It it is wet and or rainy we will pick a spot top camp closer to the Hwy.
If you have a GPS or have been thinking of getting one. Bring it, as we will have some hunt and seek games with prizes. You will have to ride a few miles away from camp to find the hidden treasures.
This area has some great areas for the kids to ride and I have some rally fun rides planned. Saturday will have three scheduled rides.
9am Saturday Riders meeting at the campfire for EVERYBODY. At this time we will go over the days events, schedule and safty rules.
9:30am after breakfast will be the EVERYBODY RIDE. This ride will be for everybody. Young and old, small and big, 2, 3 or 4 wheels. It will be 2 hours over EASY terrain. This ride will take us to the HUSKY and back.
1pm after lunch will be a fun ride down the valley. This ride will be moderate in skill level and will be 1.5 hours long. Beginners may find themselves having a hard time on some terrain. This is not an EXPERT ride, but is a intermediate ride.
4pm will be a hard and fast ride only for those that can keep up. This ride will take us AROUND the Freemont Peak mountain and will cover some very difficult and hilly terrain.

Other rides may take place on Saturday afternoon. Keep your ears and eyes open!

Saturday night we will have a great time of worship around the campfire with a fun interactive bible study for all to enjoy!

Cant wait to see you all there!!

Jake, Brock, Jordan & Teeny,

Hey, we were talking about the meaning of flags out on the Supercross track last night at Anaheim II. Here is the official meaning of the "light blue flag w/a diagonal yellow stripe". You can check out all the flags and rules for Supercross and Motocross at: http://www.amamotocross.com/article.php?UID=4G2PK6S7hspCKB54NsQNyJK5GlNprz&sc=1109&aid=5425

Light Blue Flag with Diagonal Yellow Stripe: Indicates you are about to be overtaken by faster riders. Hold your line and do not impede their progress. Riders disregarding this flag may be black-flagged at the discretion of Race Manager.

See you soon!!!!!
Robert

Wow! I just wanted to say thank you to everyone in our group for sharing and making accommodations for anyone who shows up. I pray that God uses this Ministry that has some sort of outreach event/mission trip. Something like that. We have a great

I know I have already been blessed by the new friends I have met in the last three months, and deepened some old relationships too. I really appreciate and love you all. Special thanks to Jim and Jamie, to Ed (you are awesome, and so is your son), thanks to the “boys” (Brock, Matt, Jordon, Jake, & Nathan) for letting Shannon and Karin crash in their trailer on Saturday night due to the cold.

Thanks to all the guys who help with my riding abilities.

Special thanks to my wife for going riding! I love you Karin!
