yes, the disdain for the soap opera mentality of fanaticism and a genuine fascination with someone's notorious private life - it's a contradiction for me too. i was actually inspired by rfk's sense of duty, of not wasting your life, in addition to the complete waste of talent and intelligence that was dk's life.... that sparked, or rather moved me to make something in my own life happen.......because i DID relate to david's need for respect, sense of wanting to do something, yet not being able to break free of my own fatalistic and self-defeating tendencies; i was a dormant writer and former idealist who was losing my spark......and rfk/dk reignited it in ways i too have trouble expaining. i can recognize the writer in your responses - pleased to meet you.
