 I forgot about the colitus and back fractures. One of them resulted from a prank in the mid-1930s when a chaffeur tackled him while he was attempting to catch a football. I expect that the man was fired. If I'm not mistaken it was that incident that cracked one of his lower vertebrae in half which of course only made his malady worse.

Also, due to the colitus by the time he died his stomach couldn't handle anything that wasn't bland. No spicy foods, nothing too tough.

That guy was a trooper, I would have been down for the count by twenty. But I suppose life must be lived either way.
