I am not saying that the Littell book was particularly offensive. What I am saying is that JFK Jr seemed to place a great value on discretion in his friends. While he was alive (and after his death for most of them), they were very protective of him and disclosed almost nothing about his private life to the public. JFK Sr, in contrast, seemed less concerned about whether his friends talked to the press (different era, with a press that was not as harsh and negative as is the press now). I seriously doubt that JFK Jr would have been happy with Littell's commercialization of the personal details of their friendship no matter how innocuous the presentation by Littell.
