Wake up my dear fellow Filipinos. It is now time for change stop corruption from the top down to the bottom. I am no longer proud of my primary citizenship to be called a Filipino because of our leaders running the most corrupt head of a country in Asia today. Who do you think are stupid enough who will try to lend their money to the losing business? Without good President, Governor, Mayor or manager and good collateral, they will not even think of lending us a cent. This was a proven facts and experience on my part. The new President can not balance the budget, there goes the spiraling economy. No money to spend to pay teachers, soldiers, the poor (public aid), road and bridges etc. etc. We are living in debt after Marcos left. I hope and pray that the next President doesn't do something stupid like putting our country into more corrupt-embarrassment! If they do, I know a lot of Filipinos will not only be ashamed of our citizenship but also change citizenship, if it is possible. Maybe other Countries would rather deal with dictators and corrupt leaders as it is cheaper to (lagay is my guy) "buy" them or do business with them.

You make a very good argument, Mang Paul. It is obvious that you haven't given up on the Philippines. As I see it, you care very much about the Filipino and the Philippines. The question is, how and what are we going to do about what we percieve is the current ultimate issue/issues of our time? May I suggest, we look at the education system in the Philippines? May I further ask everyone to either propose a solution, create a platform of discussion and or produce a program where we all can put our heads together and get on it the transformation. Talk is cheap...nothing gets done in the process but if we al put our heads together, we can do wonders.Akelat (Actions speak louder than words!)Fri, Jul 03 2009

Let us NOT judge anyone. We also cannot just rush home to the Philippines and expect that we can do big things right away with open arms from the powers that be. We need to look deeper into where our impact can make a differrence. The values of our fellow Filipinos have been corrupted by their desperation and the survival mentality. And let us make one thing stratight, overseas work has been keeping the Philippines economy for many years now. Mang Paul, you have a very moral line of thinking...ignore the distractive comments, please. You know yourself...please continue to care!Akelat (One's conscience rules one's thoughts...)Sat, Jul 04 2009
for centuries sir paul, we've acquired spanish traits and traditions just like mexico and other latin countries. i think if one of these countries change their ways, we'll do the same. for now let's be proud of our birth of origin which is phillipines that it has a functioning government unlike iraq and other countries. all we need is invest more in p.i. and time will tell. Since election is coming up, if you are aware of issues grappling the Philippines, there's one thing you can do if you really want a change in the country, educate the voters. Most Filipinos tend to vote for celebrities, the ones the are popular and the candidates who give out money, bag of rice or whatever. Remind them to vote for the candidate who has a good vision for the country and with good track record. A president who is popular or a celebrity would not lift them up from poverty unless that president is a good president, and a bag of rice or some money will only last a few days. (NT)Chances are that if they vote for the right president, their lives would get better in the long run and maybe even corruption might also be eliminated.Wed, Jul 08 2009
